Yesterday a local radio station in Knoxville was asking people to call in, regarding where they were when LSU upset TN in the SEC championship. It was the 10 year anniv. and the beginning downturn of the UT football program. Everyone was calling in giving their sad story etc. So, I called in with a much happier tone. Their response was "mixed"! Had to do it!

that game really was the downfall of the UT program.

Coach Charlie Mac also passed away 2 days pior to that game, I'm sure his spirit was with us that night. Had a wonderful conversation with him earlier that year. Great man!

That game was more about our turning point than Tennessee's.

I was at this game. This was my senior year at LSU
This game was the turning point of the LSU program. Tennessee already beat us earlier in the year, they were the favorites to head to the Rose Bowl to take on Miami. All they had to do was beat LSU. Davey and Toefield went down with injuries early in the game, Mauck and Davis stepped up with no problem. Travis Stephens rushed for like 100 something yards the week prior against Florida, LSU held him to just 50 or something like that...

I was standing in my best friends wedding. And they didn't have a TV at the reception >< Was frantically trying to find ways to get score updates.

I think it was like 230 against UF and then 35 against LSU.

what a game. if you'd have told me Ro and Toe would get hurt in the game and we'd still win, I'd have thought you were crazy.
Saints beat the Falcons the next day here too, IIRC.

Yes! I was there, left Knoxville that morning and on the interstate I saw numerous vehicles with little stuffed Tigers with nooses around them from the back of UT bumpers. Almost got into a fight at a sports bar when some young (20s) UT guy came up to our table and shouted LSU sucks. It was great. I try to play along here in TN. and not get into too much trouble. When people come up to me and ask if I will ever convert to being a UT fan my typical reply is "you can only be passionate about one lover, and mine wears a purple teddie!"

The Fumble that turned the course of the game happened right as Meatball from the lair's camera was flashing taking a picture of us. Right before that I was thinking the trip wasn't a total failure because I got a picture with Meatball, and right after that I was thinking this is one of the most important wins in LSU history.

I was also at this game, and it was one of the best I can remember. The Tennessee guys behind me weren't very happy.

That doesn't seem like it was 10 years ago!

We stayed in a hotel with a bunch of Tenn fans. As everyone was getting off the elevator to go to the game, they were all being handed roses...not so fast my friend!
