I rewatched the Georgia game. Kevin Minter played awfully well. He has been improving all year, and he's arrived. He played a lot against Bama last time, but he's a whole new player now. Baker is a first rate LB; Francois is very good; and Minter is extremely good. In the beginning of the year the LB's were a weakness; not anymore!

They're better than most give them credit for, but still have some room to get better imo.

I really like Minter.

I am not sold on anyone besides Baker. Minter was a huge get and has been improving I think. But truth is I haven't analysed the games to really know. My impressions are just that impressions. Anyone else have thoughts. I really would like to hear more analysis.

I like Minter, he is my favorite up and comer linebacker. He is a great run stopper and a great tackler.

I rewatched the Bama game and those plays where the coverage lost Richardson in the flat might have been because of Minter. In my opinion anyway. Looks like he might get lost in coverage at times.....Don't get me wrong, I think he can learn, but we probably won't see him in a lot of passing situations until he gets that straight.

While the linebackers have played quite well, notice how well the D-line has protected them. Not many OL getting through and having clean licks on them, allowing them to fill their gaps or flow.

We make our own linebackers, we don't need to recruit any top 100 bama-bound linebacker losers.

That is what I have said all year the great DL play has masked our subpar linebacker play.

I've been impressed w/ taj Jones as well in the limited PT he's had. LB will no longer be a weakness for the next 3 yrs.

Minter has really come on late in the season. Taj Jones will be a force next year.

We get some solid guys, but they don't have the glitz and glam of the Linebackers from teams like Alabama, USC, Texas, Ohio St., Florida.

Out of the most elite programs in the nation, LSU has the most "unknown" linebacker units each year.

Bama-Nico Johnson, McClain
USC-Cushing, Maulugaga (spelling), Galippo, Matthews
Texas-Jordan Hicks, Derrick Johnson
Florida-Spikes, Jenkins, Crowder
Ohio St.-Hawk, Laurinaitis, Carpenter

But we win as much and in most seasons more recently.

DL hasn't masked out LB play, it just gave the players a chance to make plays, not getting caught up in traffic.
They have played well this year. They still had to make plays and they did.

I'm trying to think of the last LB we had drafted in the first round and the name that comes to mind is Eric Hill back in 1989. We've had some pretty good ones - Bradie James, Lionel Turner, Ali Highsmith, Kelvin Sheppard come to mind. But ya we aint linebacker U.

Kevin Minter and Tahj Jones both have played well and have improved a lot during the year. They are getting more and more playing time all the time.

Hatcher is a weakness and honestly a risk.

When he is on the field at LB or nickel or wherever I am worried.

Hatcher still misses a ton of plays. They just aren't as obvious as when he was at safety. He doesn't have linebacker instincts. There were several plays early in the game when the D-line did their job holding blocks and keeping the guards from getting to the second level and hatcher either filled the wrong hole or just failed to fit the hole fast enough. He still catches ball carriers rather than meeting them which is a no-no at the Mike.
