Here is the final wolfe poll:
1 LSU 10.519
2 Alabama 8.969
3 Oklahoma St 8.700
Here is last week's Wolfe Poll:
1 LSU 10.207
2 Alabama 8.877
3 Oklahoma State 8.582
I find it interesting that LSU beats Wolfe's #15 team and gains 0.312
Meanwhile, Idle Bama gains 0.092
And finally, OSU beats Wolfe's #10 team and gains 0.118
wat.

Why is the formulae so opaque?

Probably a lot to do with what all the opponents did.

If I'm not mistaken, Okie State could have finished 2nd in all the computer polls and they still would have finished 3rd in the BCS. So it didn't really matter in the end

Not a lot of teams playing this past week though.
I think OSU's opponents went like 2-2 because big 12 was one of the few conferences that had games.

They need to release the formulas to the public. This is ridiculous that they can just put out numbers without anyone being able to check and make sure they're correct.

You're not mistaken. That isn't really the point of this thread.
The point is these computer polls are insane. Whether they are insanely complex and efficient or insanely stupid is for you to decide.

Yea. I know Wolfe is one of the more secretive. I tried to do some research on how he computes it, but he just list a huge bibliography of complex math ideas that I could never understand.

They are insanely stupid no doubt.
Look no further than Wolfe ranking Oklahoma 10th and Auburn at 22nd in his poll this week
