What do you do with someone who will intentionally lose to someone in the last week so that opponent makes the playoffs?
the intentional loser is already in the playoffs.

im thinking about doing this to get a better matchup for the 1st round of playoffs. "resting my starters" so to speak

my opponent is already in playoffs though

sitting mccoy, forte and rodgers for flynn and two RB's that have never scored more than 5 points all season.
also playing miles austin over mike wallace.

pretty obvious.

Not really fair to the rest of the teams competing for a playoff spot. I believe everyone should use their best lineup regardless of the circumstances.

One season, I was sitting in third going into the last week (tied with another team but I had the tiebreaker) but the second place team had far and away the most points scored all season, just some bad luck. The team that was in first place had a middle of the pack score (less than mine) but had just gotten lucky to be at the top.

Going into the last MNF my matchup was close (against a non-playoff team) and the team I was tied with was winning, so I benched a few good players to drop to the 4 and matchup with the weaker 1 seed in the second round. Plus the 5 seed was also a weaker team than the 6 seed.

The fantasy football gods made sure it backfired as the #1 seed beat me in round 2 with a few huge unexpected games, but I didn't feel too bad about it.

I didn't affect anyone making or not making the playoffs though, or who got a bye. Just the seeding. Affecting someone making or not making the playoffs would be wrong.

It's lame, but if money is on the line...all about the matchups.

What's his motive for letting the guy in the playoffs? Weaker team? His best friend?

Id send out a message saying he owes it to the league to remain competitive.

if he loses, his dad gets in the playoffs. i get the shaft. i have a better team. it is for money.
he's also giving up a first round bye by losing this week.

i understand your free to do what you want, just would expect people to have better morals, considering we are all friends.

I'd call the guy directly and say this is not the way you are expected to act in a pay league. If he doesn't change, take it to the larger group.

well if i win i'm in anyways b/c i win the tie breaker, assuming he tanks and his dad wins.

but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt to change his lineup without me having to say something, and if he doesn't change it, he's definitely not playing next year and i just might open trading back up and give his opponent one or two of my stars.

$100 buy in
he really has no benefit in losing.
it's actually worse for him if he loses. no bye and he has to play the 3rd best team and then the #1 team, as opossed to a bye and then probably the #2 team, who has AP and Fred Jackson and now has no RB's with them injured.
