Not sure if already mentioned, but in HA2, why the hell did Uncle Frank leave the bathroom door open a crack when he was taking a shower ??
Who does that with a house full of people, some of which are female?

Also Frank really seems to hate Kevin. "Get outta here you nosey little pervert" "Your father's paying good money for this trip."
"You little jerk!" "It was pretty gol-durn funny!" (Buzz's antics behind Kevin at the Xmas play.)

I STILL don't get why Tim Curry thinks a child would/could steal a credit card. All he had to do was ask the woman who checked him in who was told by Kevin that his name was McCallister, and the name on the credit card is....McCallister!
Jesus, just call the credit card company and advise them that his SON has the card and to contact the father!

I can't believe the majority of people in the auditorium thought what Buzz did was funny.

Because why would a kid who stole a credit card not tell someone that he's the son of the guy with the credit card? It makes sense that he thinks Kevin is lying to him. He's a mere pickpocket in his mind.

Not to mention an hour later Frank is still laughing at him like the pompous arse he really is. He acted as if Buzz was Jerry Seinfeld.

Yeah, I thought that to myself last night. As they are handing the bag down the line in HA2 ("Hand this to Kevin") it's Frank's turn and he shakes his head in disgust and won't take part in anything relating to Kevin.

Really sealed the deal for me how much Frank really hates Kevin. An alternate plot could be that Frank hires 2 bumbling hitmen (He's cheap, so he gets what he pays for) to kill Kevin

Now that we've really dug deep in the tangled web that is Home Alone........

Can I get an accountant in this mug to give me an analysis on how much Culkien makes on Home Alone in royalties each year?

I'm guessing he clears 1 million in December easy.

AND FYI WANT TO HEAR ABOUT SOME SERIOUS CHILD LABOR:

HE ONLY MADE 100K for his role in this movie.

He did make 4.5 million for Home Alone 2 but 100K!!!!!!!!!!

I like this theory, it could be interesting paired with a theory I posed earlier in this thread about the Chicago mob being behind the wet bandit burglaries for the contracts.

It is highly likely that the wet bandits are low key dimwit crooks who owed money or blood to an upper tier capo in the Chicago syndicate. Meanwhile uncle Frank, being the cheap basterd he is, get in contact with the bandits about knocking off his "little jerk" nephew. The bandits, while scoping out the Mcallister hit, discover a plan to get out from under the thumb of the mob. The nights wading up to the hit they will flood out the highly effluent suburb, allowing the syndicate to come in and strong arm the construction contracts.

They didn't finish the hit job on Kevin, but they did flood enough homes to ensure some sizeable construction income for the family on the renovations.

Not when the shuttle van drivers (who had to stand around because the McCallisters were too fricking stupid to have battery backups in their alarm clocks) had to go 90 MPH on the freeway just to get to O'Hare on time.

Its been years since I seen this movie. But home alone and home alone 2 are some of my favorite all time movies. 3 was very blahhh, and 4 was just complete trash. Anyways ?the thing I always found funny about HA1 and HA2 was how unrealistic it was. It was almost like watching a live action cartoon. I would love to watch these movies again just for laughs

HA2: The family obviously has money, they stay in probably what is a $10k a night room, thats conveniently vacant on Christmas, but freak out about a $1k room service bill. You're lucky he was smart enough to order room service and not starve to death.

They were put up in that room for free. For what.. treating Kevin like shite after finding out the card is stolen I guess.

You don't automatically get royalties. Has to be part of your contract.

That was basically the point though...the more over-the-top and silly the violence was, the more believable and easier to take it it was for the audience.
