I'm pretty sure. Something like "Lord knows your father is paying enough already.." or some such shite.

Uncle Frank is a complete dickweed.

Rereading this thread is hilarious..and I love how (deservedly) mean we all are to OML:
quote:

Oh frick you, penis. You were 15 minutes in on November 30th of last year. So in 372 days, you've managed to watch 25 more minutes?

Don't make promises you can't keep...someone nailed it with the deadbeat dad thing. This is easily one of the most disappointing threads ever on the M/TV board...and it makes me sad.

Also, I was about to post about how last year I went to a Christmas party dressed as Kevin McAllister (it was a "dress up like Christmas movie characters), and ran into a dude dressed as Marv, but I see I already posted about it last year.

Here are pictures though:

With everyone that has contributed to the thread, would we sufficiently say it has been "finished", or can we still lambaste OML for not doing it all himself?

Personally I like this christmas time tradition. And Lord knows that input from all parties has torn these movies apart from pretty much every angle ha.

I forget what has and has not already discussed in this thread, but has anyone discussed the old people that basically robbed Kevin's mom at the airport only to then act like the Christmas spirit gets into them to give her there ticket?

Idk, I haven't taken the time to reread the whole thread, which I might do when I get home from work.

I was watching HA2 before falling asleep last night and caught another part. Kevin is rushing to the (wrong) plane after separating from family. He runs into the ticket lady and all the passes drop. She goes "do you have a pass?" He goes "somewhere.."

The the manager I assume thinks it over for like a half second and goes "alright...BOARD HIM. Just make sure he finds his family". I hate the way he says board him. Then she walks to the plane with Kevin, Kevin points at a guy like 50 feet away and he can only see the dude's back, and says "yeah that's my dad". Ticket lady is like "alright cool, have a nice flight".

I feel like everyone from the family, to the police, to the airport security, and the list goes on just does an astoudingly awful job of ensuring the safety of a child.

I was only 8 or 9 when these movies came out, but airport procedures are far different today than then, so I don't see him getting on the wrong plane as much of a stretch. Family and police were certainly a stretch.

It would be in today's society. Although wasn't there a story of a kid getting on a plan without tickets and ID a month or so ago?

I feel like all of the behavior in the airport and on the plane is completely surreal now. They would all be tased and rectally searched now a days,

Also, how hot was the oldest sister? Has that already been discussed?

I was thinking about pulling it off last year, but most if my contribution to the thread was basically already said here.

Not to spit in the face of tradition, but should we pick a new holidy movie to overanalyze?

Why doesn't Tim Curry's Concierge character realize that Kevin has HIS FATHER'S credit card ??

All he had to do was ask Kevin where his parents really were, call the Miami Hotel and tell them.

For all Tim Curry knew, Kevin was just some bum who stole it.

Kevin wasn't going to tell that diamond obsessed fool from Congo where his pops was. Kevin told him his dad was in town on business and was too important to deal with ancillary drama like checking into hotels. Kevin would have to deal with all that junk.

Meanwhile Curry is more focused in on the rampant underperformance of his head bell hop, rob schnieder. He's been distracted for all of Decemeber, as it is their peak season and the general manager has already informed Curry that if Schiender doesn't get in line they're both our of a job.

Why doesn't Curry just fire Schieder you ask? Well that's because Curry is on the hook to Rob for his unpaid gambling debt that Rob has been running through his bookie.

With all this drama brewing in Curry's mind he just really doesn't have the time to focus on the kid in the penthouse that threw down a card that didn't get declined. His moneys good, so is he!

I got halfway through this thread before I realized it was started two years ago. Then I kept reading because I thought SURELY BY NOW I WOULD HAVE A GREAT ANALYSIS TO READ THAT WAS TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING.

But I did watch HA1 and HA2 on AMC the last couple of days with story notes. to everyone for overanalyzing Marv's and Harry's injuries. AMC's notes did the same thing.

In HA2, when the family is all huddled up in a rainy Miami hotel room, why do they act as if they're limited only to Spanish channels? I know its like 1994, but they're in the US and not Guadalahara. Turn the channel and watch something you can at least understand. The McAllister's are an overall dumb family (excluding the resourceful Kevin of course).

I think I posted in this thread 2 years ago.

I'll add this: in HA2 after Kevin's first re-encounter with Marv and Harry, he escapes and manages to use beads off strands he hurriedly purchased from a street vendor to make his pursuers slip. If you watch, Kevin stops and strips all the beads directly around where he is standing instead of smartly dropping them as he is moving away lest he be tripped up by his own trap. How did he manage to maneuver through a dangerous pile of beads without falling ala Marv and Harry mere seconds later?

More questions, no answers.
