Seems like everything is going awesome with Kiel but with him being from the midwest and tOSU inking Urban, is there a concern we'll lose out on this kid?

I would imagine that the prospect of sanctions and the loss of talent from tOSU plus LSU being pretty set for next year and beyond would sway Kiel to Baton Rouge.

I dont think we can see it as losing out on him, we never exactly had him to begin with. At least with tOSU, they have a freshman qb that seems perfect for meyers system, not sure how much that will play into it, but between that and them not really being mentioned at this point, I dont really think they are a factor.

Btw, im not going to say he isnt a fit in meyers offense, i think meyer could build an offense around him that would be successful if he were recruited there

Yea, I think he is interested. Ive always been hesitant about guys this late in the process, its not impossible for us to win them over, but usually its just kids that have a chance to visit places they dont get to see or whatnot. Keep in mind, he is leaving here and headed to Nashville to see Vandy, so they are getting the same face time with him. Except, of course, for them not practicing this week

I dont think Coach Meyer will ever recruit another pocket qb ever!

We've seen what Brantley did to him, but I guess he had to accept his commitment, right? Wasn't his dad or someone in his family a Florida alum?

What has CUM done with a Tebow at QB? He left Fl in shambles. He quit because he knew his stock would only drop further after this season. He would not have had any better record than Muschamp this year and he knew it. He quit on FL. He was good because he had Tebow and Mullens they left and he went down hill. No love lost for this guy.

Well don't forget he lost Tebow and Cam.
That is why Brantley got the starting position. I don't think Meyer anticipated playing Brantley. He didn't fit into his scheme.

unfortunatly for tosu, meyers system does not include a power running game (unless he can find another tebow). his offense is all about speed and it is questionable to me if he can recruit enough of it up there. i know thats a prejudice because they have fast yankees but RR was not successful with a similar offenseive approach.

I think CUM will out recruit the Big Ten in the South.

He will get LBs and DBs from TX, GA and FL. If you want to win anywhere, you have to have DBs and LBs from the South.

I don't have anyway to justify that, except that these Big Ten defenses don't have them, and therefore they suck.

This^ In his first press conference CUM kept praising him and expressing his excitement at the prospect of utilizing him in his offense. He did so repeatedly.

They also have Cardale Jones coming in this year. Some of you may remember him.

I agree that Meyer will need to recruit some southern kids to really threaten the SEC unless there really is no elite SEC team. I do not agree that he has to have southern dbs and lbs to compete. OSU has always had very good dbs and lbs and most of them were Ohio kids. Ohio has very good talent that he will and must build the team around. The southerners will be needed to get the overall team speed that he will need but I think those will be needed primarily on the DL.

Terrelle Pryor all over again. Top QB recruit visiting the #1 team late in the process. (granted, this is a month earlier than Pryor.)

Miller will be an excellent QB in the Meyer version of the spread. Kiel would be a perfect QB with with what LSU wants to run. I think there is a lot more than passing interest there between him and LSU. He may be our "surprise" recruit of the year.

Honestly, we don't need a true dual threat at LSU. We have consistently underutilized our skill position players even in the BCSNCG years. Someone who can operate an offense and make the NFL throws with mobility for the roll out throws is ideal.

We have too much talent at WR to waste snaps running the option. We can use play action with a true passing threat and get better results from those snaps than our option attack is giving us now
