It seems Alabama's offense can mix things up much more than LSU's offense. For example, before Auburn game they ran a lot of under the center / pro style offense. Come time for Auburn they ran a lot of diff . formations, ran out of the shotgun ALOT . It was something they hadn't really done all year ( and had success) . Now , they have 40+ days to install whatever they want against LSU. On the other hand, LSU has run the same offense all year, and although successful, it seems its all or nothing. LSU has zero variety. Its meat and potatoes, you know whats coming, try to stop it which no one has been able to (except Alabama) I think with Alabama having over a month to prepare for LSU, the rematch will end up much differently. Im not knocking LSU's offense, im knocking the lack of versatility. It seems that the key to the rematch will be the offense's ability to versatile. Alabama will score points, but can LSU keep the offense the same and score points too? I hate to say it but I believe Alabama offensively has the better coaching staff. LSU has the better players. It doesnt mean you have to do things different on offense, but If Jordan Jefferson cant connect through the air, and relies on his feet I see Alabama scoring more points.

Alabama 15th in nation in rushing
LSU 18th in nation in rushing

Alabama 1st in nation in run defense
LSU 4th in nation in run defense

Alabama 74th in nation in passing
LSU 100th in nation in Passing

Alabama 1st in country in pass defense
LSU 6th in country in pass defense

LSU 1st in Turnover Margin
Alabama 26th in Turnover Margin

LSU has played Oregon and West Virginia out of conferece. They have much better offenses than any team Alabama played out of conference. Those defense statistics aren't valid imho

LOL....LSU hasn't had to change what it does for the most part. LSU has MANY more weapons than does BAMA and thus has more versatility if they want to mix it up a bit.

You sound like a turrible fan by the way.

This means nothing.

LSU's offense has been as versatile as it has needed to be.

As far as the rematch, Bama's offense doesn't scare me one bit, it's their defense that is the problem.

If only LSU had over a month to prepare and install whatever they want...oh well, NC runner up sounds good i guess

LSU does have better players, but the coaching staff hasnt changed anything all year, and I dont think JJ is capable of anything complex. (nor is J lee)

Did you not watch the Arkansas game? LSU was in shotgun the majority of 41-3 run.

Also, JJ is only starting his third game of the season. He's still learning new things. I'll take bowl game JJ any day of the week over 100 other NCAA QBs.

Our offense isn't anything dynamic. We don't line up in many different formations. We are very predictable, especially when #9 is in. We rely on field position and defense to help the offense. We pound it out in the 3rd QTR and take over games with time of possession. More than anything, we limit our mistakes (moreso early in the year than recently). It's boring. But it works.

Maybe because they haven't needed to?

We can agree to disagree. Both teams run a vanilla offense but I think LSU is less vanilla than Bama. From what I've seen of Bama, they get the ball to Trent Richardson up the middle (I've been surprised at how little he gets the ball off tackle)and they throw him screen passes. As for the passing game, it is your typical "Don't frick up" passing game, i.e tight end drags, slants, etc.

Since Jefferson has started playing, not only have we added the option game but we didn't change the downfield passing game we ran earlier with Lee.

That being said, both teams have amazing defenses, so they have run offenses that play to that defense. It'll be interesting to see what both offenses looks like for the championship game. Does Saban have enough belief in McCarron to let him sling it?
