Won't make a huge difference. They are already behind OSU in comps

incorrect. it's all about the gap.

The gap will widen but not significantly. This is up to the voters over the next 2 weeks.

I just realized the Ok State isn't even in the Top 5 in the coaches poll

Yup. Hopefully, Stanfird loses tonite, and Va tech next week. If OSU is 4th and pulling a few 2nd place votes and 3rd plave votes, they jump bama

i would think that a clemson win would help VT's case....and cause some voters to remember other confrences play football too

Actually it is correct.

The BCS just looks at where you're ranked in the computers. So if you're #2 in all the computers, then you get a certain amount of points. All that matters is where you are ranked in each comp poll, not the spread of those polls.

Now Bama is #2 in 2 of the 6 polls with OSU #3 in 2 of the 6 polls. So it may help a little, I think maybe .01 or .02

Also it's important to note that the BCS drops the highest rank and lowest rank of your computer scores.

So if your scores are 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3. Then Only the 4 #2s count for your computer score.

Bama was going to be behind OSU no matter what happened today should they beat OU next week.

What'll be interesting is how both OSU and OU would actually potentially be in front of Bama in some computers if OU won.

That would be freaking hilarious, but is likely in the Colley Matrix.

Incorrect.

Regardless of what happened today, if OSU beats OU, they'll be the consensus #2 in the computers and Alabama will be consensus #3. That gives them a .9600 and .9200 computer score, respectfully.

I agree this is pretty likely, though I don't know the spread that exists in the 2 polls where OSU is ranked below Bama. They'd only have to jump them in one of the polls.

VT has no chance thanks to their computer score. The only team that can jump Alabama is OSU.

Here are the exact numbers for last week. LINKas you see, OSU is ahead of Bama in all but 2 comps(only one of which matters due to the outlier rule). So OSU gets 24, 24, 23, 24 = 95, divided by 100 =.950 for their Comp score. If they move ahead of Bama in 1 more computer, they will be consensus #2 due to outlier and have a .960 comp score

By my math, with everything constant, and OSU doing as expected and jumps Bama in 1 comp, OSU will need around 92.5% of both polls(or any variant of the two, 92.4 and 92.6, for ex) to jump bama.

Thats pretty much a true #3. That's also not accounting for voters moving Bama down.

Virginia tech winning and Stanford up at the moment is really helping them.

SEC going 3-1 against the ACC will help them a bit though.

So what you're saying is that I bama's opponents do bad it doesn't hurt their computer scores? Nonsense.

Stanford is providing Bama with a buffer in the human polls right now, falling in between Bama and OSU. If they lose then they won't take any votes from OSU in the final polls

the ONLY team with a chance of jumping Bama is OSU. Although OSU is sitting at 2 in the comps, they are 6th in human polls. Arky, stanford, and va tech were all ahead. Arky is gone due to losing to LSU, which still leaves Va Tech and Stanford ahead of OSU. OSU needs those votes to jump Bama.
