During the on-field interview after the game Saban pretty much conceded this fact. I thought he was going to make a stronger case of them being deserving but he did a pretty poor job at it. I think this was the wrong approach. He should be trying to raise doubt that the best team won on Nov 5th. Might come back to bite him.

By saying otherwise would give LSU players extra motivation (not that they need it), it's Coaching 101.

While I honestly don't care to play Bama again, I don't think it matters who LSU plays this year in any game. These guys just aren't going to lose to anyone. They would have dropped one by now. They certainly aren't going to lose in front of friends and family in the damn Superdome.

It pains him to have to answer questions.

What's to admit? LSU IS #1 and has been for weeks. To imply otherwise, especially about a team that beat yours, would be foolish.

This! Is he going to argue that he should somehow be ahead of the team he lost to?

Totally disagree.

Why?

He said they lost to the number 1 team in the country in overtime.

In other words he is saying we didnt lose to teams like unranked Texas Tech or sorry arse Iowa St or win in a weak arse Pac 12 or ACC. He basically said Bama has the best team in the country outside of LSU and if it wasnt for LSU they would be the BEST team in the country. So why put anyone else ahead of them.

Genius.

I think he was simply acknowledging our ranking.

I think we should show Satan that we DESERVE it.
