IF IF IF IF BAMA would beat LSU in BCSNC, ESPN et al will push for a future BCS plus one model . Play the BCS then determine NC teams. Giving the current BCS committee talks on restructure under Conference realignment, ESPN/ABC will see a huge windfall by forcing a debate with a rematch. Other conferences do not want all SEC rematch.
Not to mention that if ESPN can drive LSU / BAMA rematch, ESPN alone will reap huge benefits in the month long debate on the control the future of College Football and BCS. "next on sportscenter....is the rematch fair to other conferences?"
LSU should rethink their media strategy on the rematch.
Short of that...Geaux Tigers...

Interesting thing to think about. The Plus-1 is the closest Division 1 will ever come to a playoff. The university presidents would hate an 8 or 16 team playoff.

I don't understand why they don't do an 8 team playoff occurring while the other bowl games are going on. start it in Mid Dec with the first round. New years day with the second round and Jan 14-17 with the Champ game.

If we ever get to 4 superconfrences, which I believe we will, why would playoffs not work. Make each conference championship a bcs bowl, then pair 2 conferences against each other, and then the national championship. Only adding two extra intermediate bcs bowls...

I don't get what's the problem? It's simple for a play off, just play 8 divisional game and cut the OCC games. If your teams make it then it would automatically goes to the play off and get home field advantage. The from that game you play the survivors until you get a champions.

Is 'Plus One' going to be discretionary? I'm not seeing hoe they can logistically do that and half the time playing such a game makes less sense than not playing it.
