On defense, LSU has held EVERY opponent (including LSU games) below its season scoring average, and the average difference is -16 points. The biggest margin was against Alabama, which we held to -29 points below its scoring average of 35 per game. The smallest was Kentucky, which we held to -9 points below its average of 16 per game.

On offense, LSU has scored an average of 15 points more than our opponents have given up on average. Only Miss. St. held LSU to fewer points than they have given up on average, with LSU scoring 19 compared to Miss. St. giving up on average 21 points per game. The next closest was the Alabama game when we scored 9 points vs. Alabama's scoring defense of an average of 8 points per game.

Arkansas averages 39 points per game and gives up an average of 21 points per game. Not by any means saying this will happen, but if we hold Arkansas to 16 below its scoring average, and score 15 points more than Arkansas gives up on average, the final would be LSU 36, Arkansas 23. The 13 point differential is the same as the line on the game (or at least very close).

Hmmm... Wonder if that's how they come up with these lines?

Seriously, is it?

Froghair: I've kept stats like that since 2003 season. Glad to see someone else is a stat geek, too.

On the road, Arky's D is so much worse.

I think we'll be able to keep their offense off the field - especially in the second half. Just hope our D is up for it. Everyone likes to see the Tigers make a team one-dinensional, but in this case it plays into their strength.
