I don't think anyone on this board is calling anyone racist for simply liking JL over JJ. What people are calling others racist for is hating JJ without a cause. From my experience JJ supporters love JJ to the death but when JL or the team does well they cheer. On the other hand you have a small group of JLee supports who are racist and will boo JJ no matter what and even on senior day. So stop posting I like JLee I must be racist because no one is saying that. People are simply saying it doesn't matter who you like JL or JJ but support the team and which ever one is in the game.

Exactly. It was evident in the stands vs ole miss. There were unfortunately a handful of people who were disgusted JJ was having success. You should cheer just as loud regardless who is playing.

I don't recall anyone in the stands booing Jefferson during the WKU game. And when he led the team to TDs and threw TD passes, I don't remember hearing any boos either.

Unfortunatly, I'm afraid a lot of this is true. And it really makes me sick. Big time sports has always been the one area where, for the most part, you can pull race out of the equation. If you are good enough, then you are good enough. End of story. No affirmative action, no handouts. No "fairness". Ability and results are all that matters.
Except for some people in this JL vs JJ debate. Let me say this first....it is perfectly ok for 2 people to disagree as to which one they think is better. But like the OP said, this goes beyond that. There is clear hatred for JJ and no reason for it.
Kind of hard not to assume there is something else at play in the minds of those idiots.

Disagree totally and this has nothing to do with the JL/JJ debate. Their have always been fan favorites and stars/superstars who have received louder ovations than regular players. For example Dalton Hilliard vs a backup OL, Tommy Hodson vs a special teams player, Rohan Davey versus anybody. (LOL at least for me).

People are their to express their admiration and appreciation for players and on senior day this is their last chance to do so in tiger stadium. Are you suggesting they not be allowed to cheer more for a personal favorite/superstar? There has been and always will be different levels of cheering and to try and require the same cheer for each player is idiotic.

I do not agree with any LSU player being booed at home and find it very distasteful but if a person pays his money he can boo or cheer for whomever he likes as long as he stays within the bounds of society norm. Kinda the freedom of speech thing. You may have heard of it!

IMHO anyone who has "hatred" for a person who they have never spoken to and probably never will speak to, is delusional and not worthy of this much discussion.

These football players are just a small part in a tiny era of college football. Life goes on, things change and next year there will be new issues and new QBs to complain about. Why people let these kids, (who by the way could care less about the petty ignorant fan who "hates" them) consume thier lives is beyond me. Grow up, it's college football, enjoy it and stop reading too deep into every little facet of the game.

I dont think it is race outside of the fact that JJ on occasion exemplifies some of the negative stereotypes associated through bigotry with black athletes.

if robert griffith III was quarterbacking LSU i dont think he would get booed. if cam newton was Quarterbacking i dont think he would get booed.
Jordan jefferson says retarded things like "i put the team on my back", allegedly kicks people in the face, and makes occasional bone headed decisions on the field.
( not that lee hasnt made his fair share of bone headed plays... but he has also gotten his fair share of booes.)
do some idiots think he does these things because he is black?...prb. but there is also idiots that think by being white you as an individual bear responsibility for black troubles. and there are people that think babies are a gift from god and you should have as many of them as humanly possible not matter how over populated the world is, cause thats what jesus wants.... DUMB PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE..

Was this pontificating??
Sorry...?
