need some help my fillets smell fishy

just thawed out some bass fillets from 3 weeks ago and they smell strong. any ideas? tips? never had any smell this strong before.

soak in lemon juice or milk-whichever you have, but not more than 20 minutes with milk or 10 with lemon.

when cleaning them, did you get them in the fish slime? lot of folks screw up with Specs.
and you won't believe the difference it makes.

NO SLIME!

i washed them like i normally do b/f freezing, this is the first time i have ever had the smell this strong.

I've had that happen a few times. I usually bake my fish so its not really a problem

That works well but don't make your solution too strong or soak too long. The fish will start looking "cooked" if you over-do it. A vinegar soak for redfish filets was SOP for me.

20 min in milk - then rinse and soak in hot sauce for awhile.
