LSU and Houston

I really like this kid, the picture says a 1000 words. Although, i understand why someone would be interested in Houston. No competition and easy to stand out in spot light for the future. But winning a champioship with a team gets spotlight too. I feel good about getting if houston is the comp

When Keenum leaves, and Sumlin is picked up, Houston will come back to reality for Phillips four years if he decides to go there.

It depends what level you want to play at. Do you want to play the floridas, bamas, auburns, etc every year or do you want to play the tcu's(yes I know that have been decent recently)

I would think he is only interested in Houston because he has teammates that are going to school there.

Very true! Houston won't compete for a Chamionship, but I think his interests are being around his friends. I'm OK with that, but I'd still would like a stud on the edge, like Brown, or David Perkins in this class.

What schools are serious about Sumlin? I hear that he is WAY down on the Ole Miss coaching list, but he will get an interview bc of being AA.

Is this Pillips kid not originally from Louisiana? I find it hard to believe that any Louisiana born kid who was raised watching and following LSU on TV and in the media could ever choose Houston over LSU.

If he has family from Houston or was born in Southeast Texas I can understand.

I was speaking of the levels of play, not specifically just TCU

Houston has picked up 2 of his class-mates, and Phillips wants to move. He's been committed to A&M, Florida, and now some sat a silent to Houston. This should be signal flares to the coaches, but Chavis really likes the kid. Wouldn't be surprised if he commits to LSU, after a visit, and we'd still sweat him till signing day. I'd move on, but Staff has been money, so far!

LSU better pick up their game, Losing Phillips to Houston would be like State or Ole Miss losing a recruit to Memphis or Southern Miss.

Ha!, Nice. No, I don't want him, coaches do. The kid is young, mentally, and that can be problematic, for chemistry reasons. Rather have Brown or David Perkins, as I think they are more athletic, and are'nt so high on themselves.

Not really. Playing big time football just isn't for some kids. Sounds like he is trying to make a decision on whether he wants to compete (for a position) or go to a program where he can make an immediate impact and play with some teammates. These are not "apples to apples" programs.

I can see the draw for some kids to go to smaller schools where they spend more time, and likely immediate time on the field.

coaches have to stay on this guy. we don't want him OPENLY committing to houston. we need to make sure collins and devall get the idea that EVERYONE goes to LSU. at the margin, he could influence devall. and yes, I know he has already committed to other schools. I say stay on him even if we think we are going to lose him.
