I got off work about 7 tonight, went to Best Buy and bought the new Call of Duty -- that's the first time I've ever gotten a game the day it came out.

I was talking with a friend about how launch days are a big event for some people. The only thing I could compare it to in my experience is going to a concert.

For instance, the day I see a band, I like to listen to the music and brush up on things (some people hate doing this).

Do you have any release day habits, rituals, or the like? Did you play MW2 before playing MW3?

I know people who used to take the day off on an Everquest xpack release and every time the servers would be down for patching bugs for most of it, but they still did it every time.

I actually took tomorrow off work just to play (but I had days left I have to use before year's end).

If it's a series game (Gears of War, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, etc.) I usually spend about a week playing the previous game to brush up on the story line before I actually get the new game.
