I realize Catholic lost, but Landon Collins gets owned by a 175 lb. back.

Was somebody controlling that guy with a gamepad and pressed the right analog up?

Yea, that was pretty bad form tackling by Landon right there.

Evidently #3 is a pretty talented kid; I was told he is pretty much all CHS has on offense.

He is, and yeah, he's basically it.

Hopefully he gets some looks.

Looks like we had a liar the other night. Someone said Collins was off balance and falling already. Not the case...straight up got trucked on that play. I was anticipating Collins being a fiercer hitter instead of a "break down and hang on" type of tackler.

He wasn't falling backwards, but Landon looked like he was expecting the RB to make a cut or try to avoid him and instead he just plowed over him. Smart move by the RB. I had Cecil Collins do the exact same thing to me once.

Anyway, when you break down and get into position, you gotta launch forward to the numbers. Doesn't mean Collins can't tackle. I'm sure he has laid the wood many times thru his career. He just didn't make the best decision, which is almost always to keep your eye on the numbers and attack when it comes to that type of situation.

I'l bet that hurt, too ( both physically and emotionally )

It almost always hurts less to give the hard hit than to receive it.

I was at the game and watched Collins after the play. He ran up to the back and shook his hand. I thought that was pretty classy. I have watched Collins his whole high school career. He has tackled much heavier backs and came out on top. I think he just underestimated this young man. I feel pretty sure if it would have happened again the result would not have been the same.

I didn't say he was overrated or anything. Everyone gets run over at some point. Cue up Brandon Jacobs destroying Laron Landry.

It's a simple matter of physics. Two objects collided, and energy was transferred. The running back had more kinetic energy due to his greater velocity at impact, and the running back hit Collins with enough force to cause Collins' center of gravity to move to where it became unstable and Collins was knocked down. It happens all the time in football games that smaller players will knock over larger players when they get better leverage, or are moving at greater speed.

Is #3 on Catholic getting any offers--or is he a senior?

I did not watch the video. I am taking your word for it JJ27 that I was completely wrong and did not see it correctly. Thomas straight up ran Collins over and Collins hit him at full force. Period. It was more a credit to Thomas than a knock on Collins in my opinion. I came away from that game very impressed with Khalil Thomas. He is a hell of a football player and should get a shot at division I. Les Miles and Saban want Collins. I want Collins to be a Tiger. Les Miles is a great evaluator of talent. If mintberrycrunch or JJ27 want to disagree with Miles over his recruitment of Landon Collins feel free to do so.

That's just it, he didn't. He broke down for some reason instead of just blowing him up.

I said above he's far from overrated and everyone gets run over at some time like Jacobs running over Landry.

Don't look forward to it. Apparently starting RB #3 (Khalil?), is transferring to Parkview and starts Monday. Just a rumor my cousin told me, not confirmed yet. If he does, it's a gigantic blow to CHS and a HUGE pickup for Parkview.

Parkview Baptist? What's up with this? Did you guys almost lose him? Did he talk to Parkview about this? Just curious?

Yes, he was a gone pecan, and came back last minute. Apparently him and Weiner had an issue. He did decide to stay, obviously.

Junior.

And I've heard Southern Miss, Miss St., and Tulane tossed around. I'm sure he'll get a lot more attention after this year, though. Hopefully his size doesn't discourage any offers. He's solid.
