And this is why. This morning he was on SC with Bob Ley and was breaking down the LSU-Bama game and at the end he said he would still vote a 1-loss OkSt over Bama for the NCG because he thought it would be a better match up since their offense is so similiar to WVU. After the segment, Bob Ley said that Smith would be back for the BCS show at night (as he always is). However, on tonight's show I didn't see Smith and Herbestreit (and the whole crew) completely bashed the argument that voter would put a team in the NCG because of the more "interesting matchup" rather than looking at resumes. They bashed that argument so much that it almost seemed aimed at Smith... Anyone else caught that?

I didn't see Smith this morning, but Gilmore really looked like he was called up from the bull-pin at the last moment. His arguments didn't make much sense. And his whole "boring game" bit is simply because he doesn't watch the SEC very much, IMO.

Yeah you like that what he said? Gilmore must be a SWAC fan. He wants to see a game that's 65-64 for the BCS National Championship.

They should ditch him and go hire Eddie George.

Robert Smith probably doesn't believe half of what he says. He is playing a role for ESPN. He's there to piss you off so bad that you have to tune in to see what he's gonna say next.

So apparently he's really good at what he does, and you've been suckered into watching ESPN just to see how "stupid" he is.

The fact that he played at Stanford would have nothing to do with this would it?

I don't really see how this applies to the Bama/Ok State argument. Bama's resume is nothing special. They beat Arkansas and a Penn State team that is about to lose at least 2 of their next 3 games. Other than that, their resume sucks. OK State's resume is just as good if not better than Bama's.

Speaking of Countdown, Skip Bayless has all but disappeared from the show since Oklahoma lost. Which begs the question, why the heck was he there in the first place? To hype his Sooners? Come to think of it... he does bare a resemblance to Boomer Sooner

Hahaha I agree about Bayless.

About Smith, I dont watch the shows that he is in just to see what idiotic argument he is going to make. I watch the shows despite the fact he is on them. I hope ESPN gets rid of him. Palmer and Pollack do give a lot more sanity than the loons the have on Sunday nights

What are you guys taking about ??
If it was not for ignorance, ESPN would not exist.

After all the hardest question to truly answer in sports is:

who is truly the most ignorant commentator / analyst for ESPN?

I'm sick of hearing how boring the game was. If it was really that boring then why the frick did almost 19 million people watch it?

He was so proud of his in-depth exhaustive analytical research...BEFORE the game.
