Coach Holtz--- "Come on, Man".

"Boring game", to paraphrase Holtz's comments after the game. Come on, Man. I,for one, wasn"t bored. I was "riveted". I wasn't jumping up and down, hooting and hollering, all game long. But my eyes didn't leave the game, either. Geeze, that is how FOOTBALL is to be played. In this game, two defenses beat two offenses.Special Teams won! It takes all three phases of the game, sometimes. I felt drained after the game and didn't even participate in it. Great game! GEAUX TIGERS !

Yeah I really can't possibly see how football enthusiasts didn't enjoy the hell out of that game. I loves every second of it. I think was more tense and exciting simply because points were so hard to come by.

It was a great battle and EXACTLY what I thought it would be. This crazy banter about high scoring, win by 2 touchdowns crap was not happening. It was two great defenses that had opportunities to make plays against 2 quarterbacks not having their best games. It was defense and special teams that won this game. The kicking game. Wow. They say defense wins championships. LSU may have one. Bama is a great team and will be successful this year. This LSU team has an opportunity to win it all.
I love the smell of victory on Sunday mornings.

Holtz did pick the tigers though....Meanwhile his sidekick (who picked Bama) sat pretty much in silence
The game was anything but boring

wasn't boring... about like a soccer match, scoring is at a premium. and it went to OT.

If you're a fan. Otherwise,
There were points where I couldn't stay on the couch and had to stand. Way too tense.

Both he and Urban both were annoyed with the game because they are Offensive guys. It's their nightmare of a game. Who cares!!!

Holtz wouldn't know a good game unless it involved ND putting 80 points on North Texas or some other scrub team.
I was afraid to leave my spot at the bar to take a piss or get another beer, because I didn't want to miss one play.

"Coach" Holtz is a spit-slinging corpse from a bygone era. He adds zero insight.
Urban Meyer and the dude from GA were pretty good after the game, though.

This is why it wasn't boring, if you had a rooting interest one way or the other. Miss 5 minutes of a Big 12 game, and you might miss two scores. So what? They'll be plenty of more later and the game won't be won or lost on one series. Miss 5 minutes of that LSU/Bama game, and you might miss the one turnover or the one big play that wins the game.
As the game went along, it was apparent that one big play could make the difference, and LSU actually needed 3 of them, none of which happened with the offense on the field (2 ints + the 73 yd punt).

Exactly, or a great (1-0) extra inning pitching duel. Great pitching - Great defense beats good offense most of the time.

Yeah, if they knocked the F*** out of each other in soccer...
But yes, you are correct in what you are saying. Not much scoring and each point meant the world...

Boring, I love defense! That game was a epic battle of the two best teams in the country and they were beating each other up. LSU won due to Special Teams. I will take it, but I will say this Trent Richardson is a fricking BEAST! I hope that dude goes Pro next season and doesn't play in the NFC South.

Thats why I was telling my buddy, if we had scored that touchdown right before the half, the game was heavily in our favor or in this case we would have won.
Amazing defenses = get ONE touchdown and your almost guaranteed a win.

If people want to call that game boring than so be it. I honestly don't care if it lived up to the hype I'm just glad the tigers came out with the W

I'm surprised Lou oould stay awake late enough to watch the game.

Holtz needs to go back to the nursing home...he also said Reid's interception wasn't an interception...this comment after the refs ruled it an INT, replay review ruled it an INT. Even CBS's Danielson, after seeing the replay, said it was an INT.
ESPN, it's time to put Uncle Lou in a retirement home.

He felt drained because the spit in his mouth was starting to evaporate.

I agree with the OP. It was an instant classic featuring to defensive juggernauts in a dogfight.

I thought it was obvious that Holtz was pissed that LSU won. He launched into some absurd tirade about "kickers deciding the game" (um, no, coach - it was the defenses that decided it). And then he said the interception was a bad call. Just go to bed, old man.
