Seems like Vegas is all about the Tide, or am I reading this wrong?

I think a lot of these guys are going to be shocked.

Oddsmakers want equal money on each side of the line so they can collect the juice. If the line moves one way or another it's not because of the odds makers, it's because of the betting public.

Oddsmakers could care less who wins the game. All they want it for an equal number of bettors to win and lose. They make their money off of the juice. Bettors set the line.

This. We could be ten times the team Bama is. But if more than half the money is being put down on Bama, then it will be the favorite. The bookies will continue to raise the line until the betting evens out.

Your real question IS:

Why has the betting public set a Bama -5 line?

Thanks. Makes more sense now. However, one more stupid question. What the hell is "the juice"

Sharp money is on Bama. Whcih is an indicator that Alabama is the right play.

Juice is the 10% bookies make no matter who wins.

That's why they want even betting.

Half the $$ on Bama, half the $$ on LSU. Rake/Juice the 10% regardless.

It's actually the opposite.

On a straight money line, yes.

The juice is the extra money you put down that you don't win back. i.e. You have to bet $110 to win $100 on an even money bet.

That was on Bodog. The actual brick and mortar books are experiencing variance from book to book on who the money is on. None of the big money has been placed yet, evidenced by the fact the line has barely moved.

Vegas gives Alabama 6 points when they play just because of the SEC Officials. OPS'' THE alabama officials. That is a fact.In side information; I live there 6yrs.and have some connection to know what I'm talking about. :
