with all the hype of this game, its bound to be a huge letdown. these are 2 very similar teams- they pound the rock and play great D and love to punt the football. i wonder if all these people tuning in realize this isnt going to be a great watch. great atheltes? yes. great coaches? yes. but not the most aesthetically pleasing game to normal football fans

the oregon game was much more exciting/interesting b/c of the contrasting styles, and styles make fights. this is just going to be a back alley bar fight for 60 minutes-- not exactly great QBing like a peyton manning/drew brees superbowl.

Defense is beautiful, if you have a halfway decent offense to pair with it.

Ravens, for example. Not pretty.

bullshite - It will only be a letdown for whoever gets beat, plain and simple.

I think he is referring to people who are fans of neither team and are just wanting to watch a good game

I completely disagree! I think this really is gonna be an all time great football game! 2 GREAT teams fighting it out until one cracks. It might not be a 35-30 game, probably more like 14-10, but I think it's gonna be one we'll be talking about for years.

have you ever seen a back-alley barfight? I have not, but I would venture to say it would be pretty entertaining

Steelers-Ravens games are like this one is built to be, and those are really good games, not high scoring, but great games

Loved the Oregon game, don't get me wrong, but personally, I'll take a huge SEC matchup like this over that game any day.

After this game, there will be PAC 12 and Big 12 teams asking "Are these really the two best teams because they look horrible".

They don't understand that winning with defense is ugly, but it's what we do down south.

It would be like watching a Michigan Ohio State or Texas Oklahoma game. I'm still going to watch it because they "usually" play well against each other, even though I couldn't care less about either team.

My favorite kind of games are defensive battles. I love when every hit can be heard through the tv and every yard is clawed and fought for. That is what football is supposed to be.

frick I just gave myself chills.

That's a good observation. Wouldn't be surprised to see that, as well.

I have never seen a back alley bar fight but the footage from shadys gave me the chills. I couldnt help but to hit repeat a few times and it wasn't great film either.

I get the OP thoughts. By college pollsters definition a great game has alot scoring. I think they will score more than usual but I am. Too under the premise that on paper super sexy matchup. But in reality this won't be pretty at all.

Typical PAC,BIG12 thinking. They consider a defensive series a good time to run to the concessions. It's no wonder even a team like Auburn from last year can make their best offense look ordinary. The results for our defense first philosophy speaks for itself, and it will bear itself out once again once the winner of this game goes to the BCSNCG.

this to me is what makes a great game and I know quite alot of people that feel the same way. A defensive battle makes the BEST games !!

No doubt there will be out there if the first two series end in a punt they'll scream "MY GOD THESE TEAMS ARE TERRIBLE THIS GAME SUX"

People LOVE to jump to conclusions and I think that is magnified x10 in sports.

I have nothing wrong in watching 2 absolute great defenses getting after each other and popping those offenses . much like the LSU - Ole Miss game of 1959.

This.

I mean, I love watching the offense score, don't get me wrong, but I am PUMPED when the LSU D steps on the field and on the edge of my seat waiting to see what TM7 is gonna do to disrupt the best laid plans, to see if Freak gets a shot to plow over two dudes at once so he can slam the QB to the ground like a small, frightened child, to watch Mo get inside his receiver and steal the ball like it was being thrown to him in the first place, and I could go on, but I think you see what I mean (which is, as I quoted from the wisdom of liquid rabbit, Defense is beautiful...)

bullshite. Great sound squads in all three phases. I expect both Os to try to establish the run and mix in timely play action. And there will be interesting wrinkles, believe that. I love great D and hate watching shootouts between teams with completely inept defenses.
