ESPN was just talking about in an era of spread offenses, Stanford runs a power, old school run offense that sets up the pass...Go get em Les

I love it. I think it's a better brand of football.

LSU, Stanford, Bama, and Wisconsin play football the way God intended.

This. I think Stanford poses the biggest threat to the LSU/Bama winner. Clemson would get embarrassed IMO.

Years back, Houston ran the Run-n-shoot, which was pretty close to the spread-option (got people all over, spread out the defense, ran up a lot of points). Won their QBs some Heismans, won the Southwest conference a few times; Arky and A&M fans will remember this, as they still managed to hang with them running more traditional ball. Was supposed to be the future of offensive football.

Miami beat the living snot out of them. This is relevant to the topic, because Miami was what we are, in terms of speed and talent on defense.

All these gimicky offenses are overwhelmed when you have a deep and fast defense. What we run may be considered 'old-school', but it's still the best attack if you have the players to run it. Run the ball up the gut and force the other team to stop it, and scorch them with superior athletes at receiver when they do.

We're talented enough to do this. Any other style detracts from our talent advantage; a fancy run-option would remove Randle etc from the equation. A wide-open passing attack would eliminate the impact our O-line and big backs has in beating up other teams' defense.

Stanford is going to lose to SC and Oregon. The biggest threat to the LSU/Bama winner is Georgia in the Zheorhia Dome.

I would love to play Andrew Luck and the Cardinal in the NC. if he lost he might consider coming back, preventing the Colts from drafting him

Do people actually think the Colts will draft Luck? No chance. They'll trade him for a shitload of picks. With the new rookie wage scale and Luck, this is the most valuable pick in NFL history.

This is what you do if you think you're better than the other team. If you're the other team you try to disguise your flaws and hide them in a scheme somewhere. If you're the better team you don't have to worry about all that. You just line up and hit 'em in the mouth.

IDK Carl, Manning is a few ticks away or a hit away from retirement. I know he doesn't get it often, but with 3 neck surgeries, only takes a hit to make him think twice.

Yep..

And the Colts are fricking stupid for never drafting a decent backup

Now they're so horrible that the loss of one player puts their entire team in the shitter for a full season.

Everyone says it's because Manning is so awesome. Well yeah. But it's not like the Colts would suck with a guy like Rogers playing QB

Stanford and their max-protect offense isn't all that scary.

I bet Manning plays 2 more years tops. It would be pretty perfect to have Luck waiting in the wings and learning from the best.

I think Robert Griffin III drops all the way down to the 49ers and they are badass in the next few years.
