Went this past weekend. I wasn't excited about going to a french restaurant but most of the food had a creole twist. The steak was good, not great. Alligator soup had a good flavor. Wife ordered the fish special(I think it was drum) and it was excellent. Overall a good experience but nothing spectacular.

went last Saturday

- French Onion Soup was garbage (they put about 2 whole onions in it)
- the Croque Monsieur w/ a fried egg on top (technically a croque-madame I guess) wasn't good at all. ham was sliced way too thick, bread was blah and too thick, hollandaise had no flavor. I had a better croque monsieur at a wine bar in the Houston airport two weeks ago. It was actually pretty delicious
- tried my aunt's andouille sausage benedict. was decent, not great.
- the bloody mary was on point though

I have had their French Onion Soup many times and it is very good. I honestly think it's one of the best I've had.

Rohan, I'm poor at describing things I like. But it had a nice rich caramel broth with a nice layer of cheese.

On one visit, the table next to me raved about their 's too. And Brett Anderson liked it in his review as well, which doesn't really mean anything but ...

Have you had it more than once? My one complaint with Ste. Marie is consistency (actually I have 2 complaints - there's no lower price lunch items to justify going there more than occasionally).

i've only had it once, but the broth was bland, there were way too many onions in it and the cheese on top was rubbery as frick.

maybe they just had an off day. if someone else gets it next time I'm there i'll try it and see how they did. probably just gonna go with the cheese plate next time.
