Last year's Texas Big 3A Henderson & Small 3A Carthage State Champions will play one another in a district game Friday night in Bulldog Stadium (Carthage).

FoxSouth will broadcast the game live.

Carthage has won the Small 3A State Championship the past three years in a row.

While the previous two years the Big 3A State Champion has also come out of this district... Henderson & Gilmer

Not sure how many teams make it in 3A but for 4A and 5A four teams make it from each district. The top two schools by enrollment out of the four are put in the div. 1 bracket and the other two are in the div. 2 bracket.

In 3A, three schools qualify for the playoffs out of a district. The school with the largest enrollment goes to the big school bracket (Division I) and the other two schools go small school (Division II). The DI bracket plays one less game than DII.

4A and 5A are split evenly with four teams qualifying and two go big and two go small. 2A, 1A, and 6-man are already divided DI and DII from the beginning of the season.

Hope that helps.

Carthage 42
Henderson 21

Tough tough game, but Carthage played tonight like they were looking for their 4th straight State Championship! Very few seniors on this team. It is loaded with sophomores!!! The future looks promising for the Bulldogs!!!

I really wish LSU was a little more interested in Edward Pope, would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see him in PURPLE & GOLD!!!
