I don't necesarilly like it as an even newer member, but doesn't USC have less clout to block Clemson than say UF does to block FSU?

I was under the impression that UF, UGA and USC had an unspoken pact that they would vote together to prevent either, any Florida school, Ga Tech or Clemson from joinging the SEC?

So what? Are you just trying to guess which teams will be added, or are you trying to say what teams you want to see added?

If all we, as fans, do is sit around and talk about who brings in the most money/TVs/cable subscribers etc., and don't talk about who we WANT to see join the conference, we'll NEVER get quality programs, we'll just be stuck with second rate schools.

Leave the money talk to the front office. We need to make a desires CLEAR and let the money men figure out how to make what we want work finacially.

Talk about tail wagging the dog here.

Do you think Delaney is sitting up there thinking, "We REALLY need to jump on Missouri because they bring in so much money. We certainly don't want to bring in Notre Dame, they add nothing seeing as how we already have Indiana locked up."???

We should just be going out and getting the best programs and letting the money work out from there.

I don't think South Carolina will allow this to happen.

terrible analogy.

notre dame has a national fanbase so the additional revenue is a given (which is why everyone wants them); clemson, obviously, does not have a national following so therefore they are a more of a fringe financial risk especially in a state that is already SEC occupied...

Totally agree. But this makes too much sense for some bean counters to comprehend why the currents of dollars follow the great teams, traditions, and rabid fan bases in a conference like the SEC. It takes passion to grasp, not just the ability to imagine a hypothetical pile of money. I can see adding mediocrity and visualize that same hypothetical pile of cash disappear due to sheer fan boredom.

FSU also has a national following.

If we don't start making it clear to the bean counters that we don't want mediocrity, we'll end up with mediocrity.

I guess I'm just tired of hearing fans tell me, "You just don't understand how it works, it's all about the TV contracts." etc...

So basically "Fall in line, or sit down and shut up. You'll get mediocrity and like it!"

Having people tell me what I'm supposed to want has never set well with me.

read the sentences before. i would love having clemson in the sec. they are an sec school stuck in the acc. imo slive will not invite them because they bring no extra cash to the table and usc would vehemently oppose it (more than uf/uga would fsu/gt).

One team opposing is not enough to stop it - technically. I know Slive wants to see all the votes unanimous, but sometimes one school's view is not necessarily what is good for the conference as a whole.

Do you think Indiana would be happy to have Notre Dame in the B1G? Do you think Delaney cares?

If the CUSTOMERS (that's us) demand a product, don't you think that should be a major consideration?

Right now I just don't see the customers making any demands as much as acquiesing to the bean counters.

TBH, I wouldn't mind that much seeing Clemson or GTech added.

My wish list, in order, would look something like this:

FSU
GTech
Clemson
VTech
WVU

FSU is top ten, while the others are in the top 20-25 since 1970.

Mizzou is 63rd in win% since 1970.

I'd be ok with any of these, but in no particular order.
