this year so far? I cant recall one thru the first 6 games. I recall the screen game winning a ballgame or two in the past during Les tenure at LSU. Not complaining, just an observation.

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today. I don't recall a single screen play, but I could be wrong. I think the screen game could be a huge weapon for us given our RBs and WRs.

Great point. I would also like to see this--after six games, you would think the Gary Crowton hangover would disappear.

One thing about a sabans defense they are susceptable to screens to running back and running backs running down the middle of the field for a pass.

Yes. I know for a fact they've thrown more than one to Ford. One of them (that I recall) was incomplete, and I remember wondering if that's why Ford didn't get more playing time. (This was early in the year...)

Either the next game, or later that game, he caught one.

Great Was saving them for the gumps but i guess now they will be expecting them.

It would be nice to see what Blue or Magee could do with a screen or a catch out of the backfield!

I seem to remember a screen or two in the oregon game. One complete, one incomplete in the "Analayze every JLee play with screenshots" thread

We used to have that screen kind of pass that Charles Scott was awesome at. I think we ran a few times since he left, but with little success. I thought that was a play Ware could have done well on, maybe Hilliard now.

Maybe they're setting that play up with those awkward too-quick handoffs to Hilliard.

eta: The screen pass that looked like it was just thrown into the middle of the line to no one, and then Scott would run for 40 yards.

see i was thinking the same thing. bama's front is aggressive. the way to smoke an aggressive front is screen em. ware has very good hands also.

well then you have a short memory. we used to run those little shovel pass/quick throw screens to the backs up the middle all the time. that was a crowton special

Placed perfectly, right in front of Ford so he can catch with his hands and go. Great throw. Lee's soft touch really helps in the short passing game... something we can never do with J.J.

That count as a screen?

we just dont have much of a finesse game. its pretty much all power, all the time.

ive been saying this for years, and the funny thing is, i was rewatching the 2010 WVU game on espn classic before the '11 WVU game and sure enough, out of no where, we run a shitty screen that loses yards. maybe thats why it was scraped from the playbook
