Is HB7 more popular now than PP7 was?

The excitement surrounding PP7, especially last year, was pretty pretty impressive. Seems like The Honey Badger has surpassed that though.

I think his defensive skills have surpassed pp7's
tm7 is a playmaker in every sense of the word

It's pretty close IMO. When pp did the heisman pose I got chills, but anyways yea they are hyped up about the same.

I think PP7 had a cult like following. Are we forgetting the PP7 windmill sign for college game day? Give TM7 a little more time, I don't think he has surpassed Peterson in popularity yet.

To be honest, if you ask me who I'd rather watch on defense, I'd say Tyrann!!!!!!!

At this point last year, PP7 was running back a kick or punt for a TD every game it seemed like.
TM7 has made just as many huge game changing plays on the defensive side of the ball.
I'd say their popularity and hype was about the same just in a different way. PP7 played a different role on defense locking down a top reciever and most of his highlights came on special teams. TM7 has more freedom to roam around and make plays which he excels greatly at.

This. They play different roles. I wish we could have gotten PP7 for one more year, because it'd be nice to get him a ring this year...he really was the reason for our record last season being as good as it was.

PP was a unanimous top 5 pick and always talked about as such.
So I don't think so. But he seams more valuable at the moment.
I just hope all this attention keeps him grounded. Seems like PP kinda slowed down after the heisman pose.
That is extreme swagger btw

I see it now, Mo Claiborne makes a pick and HB7 "The Honey Badger" leads the way to the endzone with a windmill like PP7. Everything then will come full circle!

We were just one week after PP7's Heisman pose last season.
The hype was probably more last year to be honest.

More POPULAR? Yes, I'd say that. Mathieu is sorta a cult figure right now.
As GOOD? I don't know about that. Peterson's athletic ability was freakish.
Doesn't matter, as they are/were both our guys.

If you play cornerback well, you don't get a lot of appreciation because nobody talks about you (because nobody's throwing in your direction).
Tyrann's entire role in the defense as this Honey Badger/monster back/nickel blitzer is to have his helmet on the ball no matter where it goes. So he's obviously going to be in on more big plays, and therefore be more popular.
If I could only have one of them on my D, I'd probably take Pat. An elite cornerback is a building block of a dominant defense and can mask a lot of problems. HB is amazing, but he needs good players around him to give him the freedom to do what he does.
