Edit since there appears to be some misunderstanding of my main point: Let me be clear, Lee is and should reman the starter and play the majority of the games and minutes the rest of the way (save injury). I am only saying in this post that IF JJ is restored in 2011, he can play some backup situational roles that parallel the role RP played in 2007.

Flynn, Hester, KW, LaFell, Byrd and the boys played a wonderful and gutsy game to beat Florida, which of course was essential to bringing home the 2nd crystal trophy.

However, RP played key running option for the team, including the run to put us up 10-7 in the 2nd qtr, as well as several great option runs to KW. (not to mention the SECCG against Tenn) And, of course Hester the horse was essential also, making it a true balanced team effort. Ware offers a bruta Hester style in 2011, with Ford offering the get-quick-outside running that KW offered.

Granted, JJ does not run the option well, but he does offer some good mix-it-up running plays (and of course the long TD throw from deep in our own territory against Bama). SO, i am not saying JJ can or should run the option as did RP, but that he offers his own style of running that can help in certain situations.

The point is, IF (and it is a big IF and I am not saying he will play or not play this year) he plays in SEC play for us, he can be a good run option to force the opponent to prepare for 2 totally different style QB's, that is a tad of an edge.

Again, I am not advocating him playing or not playing this year, but giving recognition that if he is re-enstated and decides not to redshirt, we could have a very similar style of duel QB to make the SEC and NC title run in 2011.

Flynn as a game manager with RP as a running threat, may not be too different from Lee as a game manager and JJ as a running threat in 2011

Here is a reminder of that amazing game and some of those key plays by RP than were certainly big accents to the Flynn start and predominant QB role.

LSU-FLA-2007

Bama, ironically, has the hardest time preparing for and defending against the JJ formula. Perhaps what RP was for the LSU-FLA-2007 game what JJ could possibly be for the LSU-Bama-2011 game or some other game down the stretch.

no we didn't. i was in the minority, but i always thought bringing in rp hurt our team and hurt our flow.

the only reason rp was even in the game was because flynn was a little dinged up.

Stick to rocket science. Football is not your strong suit.

I hope (For the sake of LSU, the team chemistry, and any National Championship hopes) that Jordan Jefferson is not reinstated on this team.

Jefferson takes away much more than he brings to the table. This year we play very few downs from behind the sticks. JJ lost lots of yardage on Sweeps and Sacks. Ryan Perrilloux was a superior QB to JJ in every aspect of the game.

Also, LSU isn't playing the 2007 Florida team.

The fact that Les Miles' showed guts and Keestahn Moore couldn't hold on to the ball, won that game for LSU IMO.

W/O a doubt though, that was the best Football Game I've seen in my lifetime, and that was a loss for the Gators.

JJ should transfer immediately. His whining is old. It's only going to get worse if he's allowed back. HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER GONE TO ANY BAR. Bad decision by the "team leader.''

For the love of god can we just stick with 1 QB this season

RP was much better at running the option then JJ.

do you know how to read in comprehend. I clearly anticipated this rebuttal by clarifying that he runs a different style than RP - not the option.

Didn't a couple of interceptions, one for a TD, play a bigger role than RP?

Keestahn Moore fumbled 2x, and Tebow threw an INT early in the 4th quarter because his pass bounced off a UF lineman(?)'s helmet

there where a multiplicity of things, any of which if changed, would have resulted in a Florida win. Hesters 4th down conversion, the INT's you cited, etc, etc, etc....

That does not mean that the numerous key plays by RP do not also contribute to the tilt of the game to the LSU favor.

Watch the numerous plays by RP in that game and tell me with a straight electronic voice that RP was not one of those tilts to the favor of LSU winning that game? I simply cannot imagine someone argueing against that.

I see this point made often, but IMO, RP>>>>>>runner than JJ, plus, he was at least a threat to complete a forward pass
