a bad bad bet on a company that was throwing up financial red flags 8 to 10 months prior to the grant. The Obama administration looked before they lept and this is going to bite them in the arse and i hope it takes a big chunk so they bleed out.

either they were doctoring the accounting at the company, or, the Obama administration invested anyway, trying to push their "green" agenda....either way, someone is screwed

What makes it worse is reading that the Bush admin denied the loan based on many grounds.. Couple that with the report that they felt the company even with the loan infusion would run out of cash in.....you guessed it...September of 2011

Newly uncovered emails show the White House closely monitored the Energy Department's deliberations over a $535 million government loan to Solyndra, the politically-connected solar energy firm that recently went bankrupt and is now the subject of a criminal investigation. The company's solar panel factory was heralded as a centerpiece of the president's green energy plan -- billed as a way to jump start a promising new industry. And internal emails uncovered by investigators for the House Energy and Commerce Committee that were shared exclusively with ABC News show the Obama administration was keenly monitoring the progress of the loan, even as analysts were voicing serious concerns about the risk involved. "This deal is NOT ready for prime time," one White House budget analyst wrote in a March 10, 2009 email, nine days before the administration formally announced the loan. "If you guys think this is a bad idea, I need to unwind the W[est] W[ing] QUICKLY," wrote Ronald A. Klain, who was chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, in another email sent March 7, 2009. The "West Wing" is the portion of the White House complex that holds the offices of the president and his top staffers. Klain declined comment to ABC News.

The Obama White House tried to rush federal reviewers for a decision on a nearly half-billion-dollar loan to the solar-panel manufacturer Solyndra so Vice President Biden could announce the approval at a September 2009 groundbreaking for the company’s factory, newly obtained e-mails show. The Silicon Valley company, a centerpiece in President Obama’s initiative to develop clean energy technologies, had been tentatively approved for the loan by the Energy Department but was awaiting a final financial review by the Office of Management and Budget. The August 2009 e-mails, released to The Washington Post, show White House officials repeatedly asking OMB reviewers when they would be able to decide on the federal loan and noting a looming press event at which they planned to announce the deal. In response, OMB officials expressed concern that they were being rushed to approve the company’s project without adequate time to assess the risk to taxpayers, according to information provided by Republican congressional investigators.

At least on this topic, I agree. Let's see how much shield the MSM tries to put up for him. If the parties were reversed, this would already be the biggest scandal of the year.

Yep. They tried their best to tie Enron directly to Bush just because he knew the CEO from Texas and had the nickname "Kennyboy" for Ken Lay. Now we have the White House directly involved with pumping an enormous sum of money (to those of us outside Washington) into a company that it seems everyone was leery of, and so far it's barely registering news space. Typical of Obama's "scandals".

Donations, Donations, Donations! So, they got over half-a-trillion dollars as a "loan" and funneled HOW MUCH back to Obama and the Dems??? And then they declared bankruptcy, so of course they can't pay back even the principal on the loan. Sounds like a really sweet, really cushy deal to me. And only the taxpayers lose. The question is fast becoming, "How many other Solyndras are there?" We know the stimulus was squandered somehow because we have nothing to show for all the money spent. The money had to go somewhere, though. Where? If you listen carefully, you can just barely hear the sound of hundreds of shredders going non-stop in D.C. Did you ever wonder why the FBI "raided" Solyandra? I think I know exactly where the evidence will be held, in the city dump, shredded in trillions of pieces.

The DNC should be required to reimburse the US Treasury for any donations Solyndra contributed to them or Obama.

My thoughts as well. The DOJ will cover up this, and Fast and Furious. Bastards

Fast and furious still is not being reported on by most of the main stream media I doubt this will get much traction. Although NBC did just do a report on Solyndra.

House Republican investigators have unearthed emails -- reviewed by NBC -- which reveal repeated warnings by government staffers about the loan.
: Wonder why it is just recently being uncovered? Or just possibly, possibly, NBC happened to forget the details way back when they "reviewed" the details and just happened to forget about it? Nahhhhhh... Somehow, someway, the Tea Party will be accused of this. Hell, let's just go ahead and turn them in on Obama's Snitch Website - Attackwatch.com

Maybe the name Solyndra doesn't have the same melodic charm as say a world like ENRON and that's why the MSM is avoiding the story. Can't think of any other reason.
