Does Minter get more PT against State to stuff the run?

Relf and State's primary RB are a bit beefy for Francois and Hatcher to man-up on IMO.

I think State will get some yards on the ground either way but I think Minter is the better option as a run stuffer.

Thoughts?

I would think so.

I hope so, he really plays the run well. Sheds blocks pretty good, too. Stud, and will be an important clog against SEC teams.

yup. Hatch's 1 tackle in 2 games ain't gonna do it. if they have to play him, I wish they'd line him up at Sam.

Good post... yeah, we need heavy beef inside. Bama got me thinking about this, i did not realize that they had 2 backers wieghing over 260 lbs,!!! Penn st. still had some success early running the ball...

Yes, use beef at LB and gravy in the secondary. Gravy covers everything.

Because they're in a 3-4. Not comparable.

I'd like to see Lamin Barrow a bit more as well. I think he would be a great fit to stuff first down runs and third and shorts.

Minter has played quite a bit in the 2 games...and performed well.

Agree. I like the size of our LBers this year. They all gained good weight in the Tommy Moffitt's program. Moffitt was in beast mode this Summer.

In the base package you will see:
Baker 240
Minter 245
Francois 230

That is plenty of beef, especially considering you have 2 DT's weighing around 300 each as well.

No need to beef the linebackers cause they won't make it past the d-line and tm7

We aren't going to be in nickel much, so, yeah, I suspect so.

Baker and Barrow will play, too, and Muncie looked good on Saturday, albeit against NSU. Minter is the widest body we have at Mike, but Barrow looks pretty stout as well - bigger than his listed 229 (especially if he's really 6'2").

Chavis has said that he likes to stop the run with "numbers" so I'm thinking they use a standard 4-3 this game and have plenty of run blitzes. Nothing to worry about

Yeah, I think the LBs will be trying to time the snap and shoot the gaps against the run. And the secondary should be great in run support. Glad we have a legit 8 man rotation on the Dline too.
