I have been following the implosion of the Big 12 since last summer. The writing is on the wall and it does not take a graduate of an AAU school to read it.
I watched the football game last Friday night between Baylor and TCU. I was very impressed with the performance of RG3. I also watched him on College Game Day the next morning. He is truly a fine man. Baylor University should be very proud.
I was disappointed that Georgia lost to Boise State. No I am not a Georgia fan. But I am not looking for the term BCS Buster again this year. But I have to admit BSU deserves to be in a conference that gets an automatic BCS Bowl Bid. At least I think they deserve it more than Iowa State, Washington State, Indiana, Duke, Vanderbilt, and even Baylor.
No reasonable person does not believe that The Pac 12 is destined to become the Pacific West Conference with the addition of OU, OSU, Texas and TTU. It is not a matter of IF but WHEN. When they leave, the Big 12 will cease to exist. Baylor realizes this. But what no one is mentioning is the BCS AQ that those four teams will attempt to deliver to their new conference.
Baylor should be more proactive and use it's fleeting fame from Friday night and create a new BCS AQC called the American West Conference that include the following teams.
1. Baylor
2. Kansas
3. Kansas State
4. Iowa State
5. Colorado State
6. New Mexico
7. Utah State
8. Boise State
9. La Tech
10.Air Force
11.Nevada
12.San Diego State
13 SMU
14.Hawaii
15.UofH
16.BYU
Although I mourn the loss of tradition, I accept that change is coming even if we do not like it.
I see the SEC and B1G poaching teams from the Big 12 ( Missouri) Big East (TCU,Pitt and Cincy) and ACC (NC State and Va Tech) eventually becoming 16 member conferences and I see an eventual merging of the Big East and AAC to form the new Atlantic East Conference.

This new conference you just created can take Missouri too. The SEC does not want them.

SMU/UofH and Baylor in the same conference could get ugly. Add UNLV and Tulsa instead (no worse than some of the picks).

Instead of the American West conference, here's what you should call it...
The CRAP 16.
The CRAP 16.

This conference would not be able to get AQ status. All it is is some Mountain West teams, some WAC teams, and the Big 12 scraps that nobody else wants

this new conference seems to just be another incarnation of the WAC circa 1996.

One of these is not like the other. Also, your TCU to SEC is a joke. They just joined the Big East and would never get a sniff of the SEC.
