Is there 1 student on LSUs campus that kick the ball in the endzone on kickoffs?

I know we have great coverage and all, but Alleman can only kick it to about the 15. I wonder if Wing can do kickoffs? Alleman seems real solid on FGs, but even with great coverage, it looks like the opposition will get great starting field position after we score.

Should be a soccer player that could do this. Get his arse on the FB field so he can earn his scholly.

Probably every kicker we trot out there could, but that is obviously not what they are asked to do.

ok, guess the plan is for them to start on the 30, 10 yards isn't a big deal I guess.

The plan is to force a return and see if our coverage teams can make something happen.

I used to think this is true, but I would say most times the return team gets it out to about the 25. If we can kick it through the uprights on the kickoff, then we should. No reason to risk a big return.

After thinking about it, I thought that LSU was purposely kicking it like that. No way Alleman has a scholly and he can only kick it to the 20 yard line. I'm not buying it!

Obviously the big plays can happen both ways. We have most of our starting defensive backfield on kick off coverage for a reason. They're expecting them to make a big play.

then find a kicker that can kick it to the 5 yard line then and not the 15/20.

No one on campus can kick it consistently 70 yards with the hangtime Miles expects.

I doubt there is a kicker in the nation that can do this consistently without gale force winds at his back...A line drive to the goal line will probably produce bigger returns than a high kick to the 10.

Pretty sure they never gave Alleman a scholly.

I think not kicking it into the endzone is a combination of issues. Alleman can't do it consistently and when he does he doesn't have the hang time. Jasper couldn't do it consistently either. I'm more worried about him making FGs & PATs than I am him kicking it to the endzone. Not many teams are going to break one against our KO coverage.

The end result of the kickoffs the other night was a n average starting position of the 25, with 1 crucial turnover. I'm sure they'd like to get the ball a little deeper, probably between the 5-10, but there's no doubt this is the plan they are going with.

Miles said a few weeks ago we would have shorter but higher kickoffs in order to get the coverage down there. I think it's a smart move but a few of them should have been longer. However if we could kick it deep every time we should. Auburns kickers knocked it out of the end zone every time. If you can then why not.

I'd be more worried about missing PATs. Don't say it was nerves.

I just don't understand what person actually thinks this will be the best thing to do (assuming that this is a plan). Is a rare, and possibly never, big play, but average starting position on the 30 really better than consistently making them start from the 20?
If its the kicker, out of all the recruits we can pull in, we have to be able to put it in the end zone. I'd hate to see Alabama et al with this type of starting field position!
