I can't wait for this to happen. Super conferences and playoffs here we come.

It'd be funny if they left the conference and then we didn't invite them

I hate conference expansion!

It will probably lead to playoffs though.

A&M hopes to announce a move to the SEC on Thurs..
The Texas Higher Ed board meets Wednesday.
People dismiss this as a "committee with no power" while forgetting that they make the decisions regarding much of the secondary funding and project approvals along with many other tentacles reaching all through the academic world in the state of Texas. What happens if the Higher Ed board decides that it needs to help foster the emerging Tier 1 schools in Texas while still supporting the states flagship in Austin. All of the sudden programs that are generally rubber stamped for A&M now get at best delayed and potentially denied. It is dirty pool, as they say, but don't underestimate the Starr the Baptist..
People keep thinking that this is a slam dunk thing, all the while there are still major potential pitfalls. That is also why A&M very carefully worded their public letter to the Big 12 stating their intention to look around instead of just saying screw you guys, tell us how to get out of here we are 100% leaving.
It is all a game at played by some huge power brokers in the state of Texas. I expect A&M to get away, but I can almost guarantee they are not getting out without some serious use of political capital and longterm promises..

it's inevitable so why not embrace it.

Because I love the history and tradition of the major bowl games.

I love the tradition too, but it's not like we can do anything about it. The conferences are following the money.
