This bad boy..

LINK

Been thinking about adding to my collection for close to a year and finally decided on a quality 1911. Walked into the local gun shop the other day and it caught my eye as soon as I walked through the door. It was exactly what I was looking for and after about 5 minutes drooling all over the piece, I busted out the wallet.

Will post some pictures of it once I get home. Hopefully I will get to take it to the range this weekend and will be able to give you guys an update.

Nice... I'm not big on those grips, but those are always an easy fix if you wanted to change them.

When I bought it I orginally planned on changing the grips, but after hours of holding it and drooling I decided that I love them.

Is this a common opinion?

There is one feature or rather lack of one I like. The Operator uses a GI recoil plug and spring guide rather than a full length guiderod. At least in my opinion the full length guiderod adds nothing useful to a 1911 but they have become popular.

I have heard this a good bit. I do not find it makes a difference to me, however I might not be knowledgeable enough on the subject.

Spend the extra money if you can on a quality piece (Colt, Springfield, Kimber). Trust me, you won't regret it.

On Handguns, they made it appear that take down was easier with full length rod, but no other difference.

I believe that the issue is that with some 1911's without the full length guide rod you have to use a tool to remove the plug. Now on mine it is easier to use some sort of tool, however after a couple times I can do it with just my finger.
