So is the SEC looking for # 14 before it officially invites A&M?

Call me crazy but I still think it happens.

ATM only gets in if the SEC gets who they want. The SEC is the most elite conference in the country. They hold all the cards.

Yup

Look at all the statements from the presidents yesterday, no one ever said this was over and that aTm wasn't coming. They just said as of RIGHT NOW we don't have any offers out.

As soon as they find the 14th member aTm and whoever it is will be coming.

Think its a mix of wanting A&M to ask for a invite for legal reasons and giving us more time to find the 14th.

The A&M side doesn't think so. They will take A&M now with confidence that they will get a suitable 14th member later

Exactly! Its known the SEC wants A&M and that A&M wants the SEC, the only logical explanation is that SEC is looking for # 14

Of course they don't. ATM has always had the complex that they are more attractive than they really are.

Just watch the SEC won't add aTm without adding a 14th at the same time.

When would y'all begin playing in conference? As early as the '12 season or wait until '13? Would the SEC play the '12 season with 13 teams if the 14th team hadn't been finalized or would they have to wait until 13 and 14 are ready to go?

The SEC isn't adding Missouri. They want FSU first. Until they can add someone of that caliber, they aren't going to add ATM. Also, there are legal ramifications if the SEC courted ATM and not the other way around.

So true, I remember years ago when Ray Perkins was coaching at Alabama and the media interviewed him before he jumped back into the NFL. His pretty close to exact quote was As of now , Im still the coach of Alabama. I remember turning to my Dad and saying that he is going back to the NFL. He didnt lie but he dint flat deny that he wasnt interested in going back to the NFL. The presidents language is not a flat out denial just as of now language whice was yesterday and for sure it can change today.

Carl, yes. In 2012 the SEC would play with 13 teams and the 14th team would start in 2013 in that scenario.

I'm not saying that will happen but that Slive has led A&M to believe that isn't a deal breaker

There is no way this happens, you have to have an equal number of teams for a conference championship game. You are just blindly hoping that is what Slive said.

Why? Missouri would add more new televisions to the conference than FSU would.

Maybe it's by bigger markets, but their fans don't give one shite about their football program. Period. It's not the same as down here. It's just somethign to do on a Saturday to them. In fact, their basketball is probably more important to them.
