Sounds like he's just moving. Would expect the old place to change sooner rather than later, despite the comments in the article. What I really like is:

quote:

The chef said he has “agreed in principle” with the new owners of Hotel Le Cirque to open a restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The property is about to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation and will relaunch as The Hotel Modern New Orleans later this year.
Macquet said the restaurant at the reinvented hotel will be called Tamarind and that he’s already lined up a chef de cuisine. His name is Quan Tran, who was Macquet’s longtime sous chef at his old restaurant, also called Dominique’s, in the Maison Dupuy Hotel.

Rumors confirmed. Win. Oh I'm going to eat here tonight. Win again. And the Saints are playing. Win again. And RDR is tomorrow. WIN. AGAIN.

Weren't we talking about this a few days ago?

Dominique's has had a shaky tenure. Within a month Mauricio the GM was out- but most people saw that coming from a mile away.

They did a nice job on that building (Dominique's), but I had a less than memorable meal there a few months ago.

+1 all around. Inside is incredible, but take opinions on interior design with grans of salt.

I second that. I went with high hopes, and while nothing was bad, nothing stood out as being great. I hope to at least say, "wow that was f-ing delicious" at least once at a meal. Never did that. And yes, I do agree, the place is a really neat space.

Yall have beaten down my expectations so hard now. However, I've been in Houston for 3 weeks, eaten nothing but tex mex, sushi, and mediocre up-scale, so I will probably have an inflated opinion. The place we went last night had "seafood risotto," which I knew was risky, but it was basically parboiled rice and a sauce. Such a fail.

Mmmmmm....that sounds like so much suck.

eta: Nothing worse than a "risotto" that's not a frickin' risotto.

I mean in a general sense, it did not taste "bad," it just clearly was not "seafood risotto." However, I place fault on my own self as I did no diligence and just looked at the menu. Did not realize is was in a hotel (although a Four Seasons) until I google mapped it so I could walk there from work.

I had an awesome meal there about 6 months. Tuna tartare and duck fat fried chicken were great
