As in refresh rate and such. It'll be HD of course. No bigger than 32 inches. Any suggestions. Also, it needs to be in the 350 or lower price range

i'd shoot for 120 hz
and a low response time
if you're going from a non-hd tv, you'll probably see a little lag, but i dont even notice anymore

120Hz is good. for 350, you'd be lucky to get a 32 in vizio from walmart. with a budget like that, i'd stay away from the best buys.

I think you can get Vizio's for around that price in 32"
Here's a link for you.
For Claire Bear
eta: Obviously you can't come to Monroe to buy it...I didn't even realize it was for local...I was just trying to get ballpark figures.

yeah, its gonna be hard to get 120hz for 350
and most people turn that feature off bc they aren't used to it, so i would lower its importance

So i need 120 hz with a low refresh rate?
Posted on 8/8/11 at 11:09 am to 7thWardTiger
actually i mispoke
refresh rate is 120hz
i meant response time
you want one as low as possible, but they aren't always easy to find published

If they were, where would it be found?

it's only 720p but i used to have this tv and i couldn't tell a difference between 720 and 1080 on a screen this size.

this is true so it really shouldn't matter.

i have an led tv, and IMO, the led technology is overrated
i would also consider this similar LCD model for 70 or 80 bucks less

yeah that's a good tv. i just bought a lcd samsung about 2 months ago and it looks just as good as an led tv. vizio isn't a bad name brand at all. i'd clearly take that one over a sanyo or rca if i had to shop at walmart.

my panasonic vierra plasma is the best I have ever come across as far as gaming TV. Little thicker than the new TV's but it's clear and there is no jerky looking motion like you see on some of the other sets.
Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85U 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
Old but look at amazon and they will tell you what the new madels are

I did a lot of research on plasmas yesterday and found out that I had been hearing a lot of misinformation. They last 10 years with normal use, and the image burn-in problem hasn't been much of an issue for a long time. As far as picture quality, plasmas and LCDs are very different, but taking everything into account they are about even or the plasma has a slight edge.
I bought a 51" Samsung 1080p plasma 3D TV with 600 HZ refresh rate yesterday on Amazon for $999 with free shipping/no tax; they have a special promotion where it comes with 2 free pairs of 3D glasses.

plasmas give you more bang for you buck than LCD when it comes to screen size
i bought LED mainly i didnt like the heat that plasmas give off, and the way i was mounting it, i didnt want a really heavy tv, which plasmas generally are

$30 Wall Mount that supports up to 160 lbs for TVs up to 55"
The tv I'm getting is 71 lbs. That's definitely more than LED, but a wall mount shouldn't be an issue.
