Takin a few buddies who never get to fish this weekend. We usually hit Elmer's island, rocks at caminada, rocks in front the island and that little island just north west of the bridge. Every now and then we'll hop around barataria bay but I don't know the bay as well as I should.
TIA
I really wanna try to put these guys on fish but it's so hit or miss in my normal spots. Any suggestions?

By the bridge? I've fish birds in the pass and caught mostly white trout, few specks though.

The beach all the way down towards Fourchon should be good. Throw double sparkle beatles.

The rocks along the 'bay side" of the island produce as well. Ive always caught more on the rocks right along the camps than on the oyster reefs with 6000 boats and noone catching shite.

I,ve fished the island last 6 days trout fishing has been way off last week or so. There is no bait on the beaches to speak of. The passes have been fruitless The bay has the most bait. Bassa bassa and surrounding islands have some fish. Fish current lines and don't stay long if you see no mullet. Mullet is king right now in the bay keep moving, windy points, cuts in islands on moving tide been most consistent pattern. Good luck

Anybody know as to why mullets a best right now? I will tell ya'll. Trout had been feeding on shrimp the last 3 months. When you get a chance, look inside there mouth. The swords on shrimp start cutting the roof of there mouth and they start to get sores. That and the white shrimp are just starting to move out the marsh. Now you will still catch trout on shrimp, but more smaller fish.
This time of the year, I would head east of GI to fourbayou pass and fish a incoming tide at the mouth of the pass as long as the gulf is not dirty. Also fish the islands to the north of that pass. Fish free lining the mullets. If the tide is ripping, add a splitshot about 18" up from the hook. Also, throw some topwater plugs. As ya'll know, mullet swim on the surface and that is what you trying to produce.

That's another good post. Maybe that's why we were catching on the back side of Grand Terre on topwaters. The topwaters can resemble a mullet. Interesting.

the back of grand terre produced last week as well as the back side of four bayous. While your at four bayous bounce around all the camps out there. Go north to bird island as well. If that doesnt work head up to basa basa. The trout have been murdering top water on calm days. if its choppy bust out the shrimp under a cork. Good luck
edit: I just read fishfighters post, hes right on. Same thing we have been seeing

With over 40 years of trout fishing, one learns a few things. Back when I was a kid, we counted trout by the boxes. Everbody in the hood would eat fresh fish those nights. As for as keeping redfish, no way! That was always a trash fish. Guess times change.

This is very true happens middle of every july, you can cut the horn off and they will eat it
