Had been wondering where we stood. That's much more than I thought after so many signings.

Who do we have left to give deals to? Besides Brees obviously.

I'm still not sure how close we have to get pursuant to the "spending floor" implemented in the new CBA.

I don't think that starts until next year...

I understood it as we HAVE to spend the 120mil cap.

Correct

It's probably good to keep at least $2 mil available for mid-season additions.
I dunno how the Eagles are under the cap by almost $4 mil.

from what they were saying earlier, I thought this year the cap floor was around 90-95% of the cap, and then over the next year or two it'll move to 89 or 99%? At this point i've heard so many differing reports though..

We have to spend 99% of it. So we can have a small bank role in case we need to add someone midseason.

That probably explains why Tampa still isn't spending any cash on anyone besides their superpunter.

My guess is that every backup for the Eagles isn't making much more than league minimum.

The "per team" salary floor of 90% doesn't take effect until the 2013 season. Today, the 32 teams as a whole have to spend 99% of the total cap...something like 3.4 billion.

Ding ding. You are correct.
The LEAGUE, as a whole, has to spend 99%. Teams do not have to spend 89% until 2013.

If that's true then the Saints could still sign another big name.

If they see a player that can help spend it. If they don't, give that money to Brees and Nicks this year to lessen the cap hit in future years.

I'd still like to find a name LB, maybe another DL, and a center.

This is what I'd like to see them do with the extra $$
