St.Arnold has announced Santo, a new brew to be released September 1.

quote:

The first batch was brewed yesterday and is busy fermenting. The style is a black Kölsch. Don't be disturbed if you aren't familiar with this style. We weren't either before we came up with it. More details to follow.

Anyone have thoughts/opinions on black Kölsch? I'm not familiar, but I enjoy St. Arnold. What say ye, OT?

Apologies- Request Admin to move to Food & Drink board. A more appropriate location for such a lively topic

RIght now they have the Christmas release out for the summer, while it lasts.

They do their Lawnmower and Weedwacker with Bavarian hefeweizen yeast instead of kölsch yeast. Looking forward to the release.

I've been enjoying these lately. Was in town last weekend and restocked on Weedwacker, Elissa, and Summer Pils. Enjoying an Elissa now.

You may know more than me and St. Arnold- any idea what it would compare to?

Christmas release

I went to an event at the GingerMan last week offering a free Christmas Ale pint glass with purchase. Alas, we did not arrive in time. It was a great brew though.

Just moved to the woodlands and am still giddy at having fat tire readily available. Have seen the st arnolds in stores, but haven't tried it yet. I'll have to pick some up.

For sure- made right there in town. You should try the brewery tour. Pretty nice way to start a Saturday of drinking.

It's nothing crazy but it's different- Tour Info. I think it is $7 and you get an 8 oz glass and tokens for 4 or 5 beers. These are all rough estimates, and probably neatly outlined in the link provided. Like I said, good start to a day.

Moved from BR? The Boss (my wife) and I should be relocating there next summer. I'm there pretty often for work these days. My 'job' is there but I'm still in the motherland.

Weird since kolsch isn't supposed to be dark. It should be interesting and I applaud them at trying something different. They are supposed to be bottling their pumpkin divine reserve also sometime soon (DR#8 I think it was).

Enjoy it while you can. I don't know who to credit for this but I'm pretty sure I read it here- "Texas would be a great place to live if it werent for all the fricking Texans". Their pride is sinful. No place insists upon itself like Texas.

Maybe it's because I have poor observation skills, or I hang out with a lot of LA people, or I just don't let it bother me, but I haven't noticed anything like this. I've encountered more NOLA and BR snobs that Houston snobs

I would rather not be around UT fans, but even they don't ruin my day.

I've read about these, and that sounds great.

I love that, and can definitely see it. From what I've seen there is a bit of diversity, and plenty of Tigers. I'll admit it, I'm in Shreveport now, so it will be better.
