Need Recommendation for small deep fryer.

I would like to purchase a small deep fryer but yet big enough to cook 4 large pieces of chicken in ONE batch consisting of the breast, thigh, leg, and wing without overcrowding the fryer and not using a lot of oil. After research I'm thinking maybe a unit that holds 8 cups of oil might be the correct size but since I have never used a deep fryer I thought I would get some opinions here. I have looked at the Presto Cooldaddy, the Presto Professional Cooldaddy, the Presto Dualdaddy, T-Fal Uno 8 cup, Hamilton Beach 8 cup. All of this assuming an 8 cup is the correct size or should I be looking at 10 or more cup units?

That job you're speaking about isn't small. I bet you need the 10 cup.

If you're just looking to fry up chicken dinners, I would get a cast iron chicken fryer.

Deep fryers are pain if you're frying battered stuff. You constantly have to change the oil because the batter dirties it and they require more oil than you need to get the job done.
I use my cast iron chicken fryer for chicken, fish and other battered stuff. Requires a lot less oil and probably does a better job.
I only use my deep fryer these days for freezer fries to extend the life of the oil.

I do stuff that is battered like shrimp and oysters, fries, eggrolls hors d'orves etc. Fish and chicken, cast iron dutch oven for me or chicken fryer skillet, also cast iron.

Go with the 12 qt cast iron dutch oven is my recommendation. It is a more useful tool, and is utile for much more than frying a chicken or fries.

I don't know why anyone would buy an electric fryer if cast iron was an option for them.
Nothing fries like the dutch oven.
