Just picked up a new Remington 870 super mag with a 26" barrel, full camo print. Paid $337 at Wall-mart, checked on-line, the MSRP on Remingotn's website was $601 for the same gun. Wall-mart guns are CHEAP. Although the guy behind the desk admittedly had no idea what he was talking about.

Is there a reason I shouldn't be so excited?

A little north of 300 is about right for an 870 express. Wingmasters run up a good bit higher. Did you get a wingmaster at express price?

Your son will be able to give that gun to his son. Although I don't shoot one anymore, it is probably the most reliable and popular shotgun ever made.

Nah they had a couple wingmaster's there but I wanted the express. took it to the range yesterday to shoot some clays. Couldn't be happier with the way it shot, felt, looked, etc.

Definitely has to be the best gun for the money. I was always a Browning A-5 guy and grew up thinking Remington was junk until I picked up an 870 at a pawn shop to keep in truck around farm and shoot skeet with.

Ended up loving it and hunted ducks with it that year.

I did some shopping around at the local gun shops for a 12 gauge pump I could do anything with. It came down to the 870 or a SuperNova. I just liked the reviews the 870 got about reliability and dependability. Plus the price helped

Oh, okay- thanks.

Sorry DownshiftAndFloorIt. It was sincere and I was confused.

I do know that one look at my old man's 870 would make any gun nut puke. It looks like a worn out hammer. It has never ever failed to go bang, cycle the next one, and go bang again. He cleaned it once (got it in the 80's a believe), and it was full of duck seed and swamp mud and shuck grass and all kinds of other shite that you really don't want inside of your gun. The wingmasters are extremely well put together guns.

My dad has one from the early 80's that still looks great. He actually just gave it to my youngest brother, but he bought a replacement camo composite stock and foregrip for it first. My brother is notorious for not giving a frick, my dad said he's saving the walnut for when he looks like he can take care of things

I've got the 870 express in 12, left handed. The only left handed gun I own. It's amazing how much difference it makes shooting a gun off the shoulder it was intended to be shot off of. I've also got my youth 870 express in 20 as my home defense shotgun. I love my Browning Gold's but I take the 870s to do work.

I love my 870...not many shotguns can be used as a boat paddle and shot as soon as you pull it out of the water
