I have several rental properties and my real estate license. I want to try and find a conference on real estate buying or selling or one on the rental industry in a vacation type location. Any ideas on anything or where I might could look?

I'm involved on the appraisal side of real estate. We have classes and conferences from Vegas to various spots in South America.

Might pick up some good knowledge as well as a tax write off

I know there are many other avenues as well....

Look into different trade groups.

We always go to Destin with my roommate from school and his family. We type up a little agenda that we supposedly talk about each day just in case there are any questions later.

sounds like you are going to such in such vacation spot to look for more rental property, just drive around if you see anything interesting write down the phone number and call them, if not it was just a wasted trip

or you could have a board meeting or officers retreat (i am sure you and your family are the officers ...right?)

You can make two visits to the locations of your rental properties per year and treat them as business expenses if they happen to be where you would like to vacation. If not, then you need to check with the licensing agency for real estate agents to find out what your continuing education requirements are. You can attend seminars, conferences or other events that meet your requirements at vacation locations and deduct them as continuing education expenses. If you take family members with you you will probably have to treat the expenses as part business and part personal.

Your local association of realtors shold have a listing of events you could attend to meet your continuing education requirements.

Thanks for all the input. I like the idea of a vacation spot to relax but wouldn't mind being able to attend conferences where I might learn a little more.
Anyone heard of a conference for owners of rental properties?
