Have gone to Midway Meat MArket and Grocery a few times. And am loving the meat dept. Pricey but it is good meat. The Porterhouse I ate today was awesome as were the 2 NY strips I cooked as well.

This thread is not just to anoint myself the grillmaster. It was to ask the F&D Board where they go in Katy and Houston for meat. Except Whole Foods. I have been there and will go again.

The HEB at Fry and 99 has better meat than any whole foods I've been in.

Midway does sell some great steaks for sure. Even better is their in-house marinated fajita meat tenderized with sour Mexican oranges...when it's done "right". Consistency is an issue with their fajita marinade. They do an excellent job with their deer processing in the back. Pete's Fine Meats on Richmond Ave just outside the loop is the best place for meat in Houston.

There is a meat market on Fry in Katy just south of Kingsland.

Too expensive, but he cuts them to your spec and trims them right there in front of you.

The guy who said HEB had better than Whole Foods... I am intrigued. Saw the other day that HEB had "aged beef". It did not specify how long like Whole Foods does. 28 days I believe.

I did not ask the butcher at HEB. He was busy and I was on a baby food run for that trip.

I've found the meat at HEB to be good. haven't been to a butcher in the area though.
