Looking for a wooden box that is insulated and covered with fiberglass, inside and out. needs to fit in-between the wheel wells of a truck. maybe a hundred and fifty gallons. Thanks.

You could build something similar to that pretty easy as long as you leave out the fiberglass part. You could build a wooden box and build a liner out of aluminum.

trying to understand what you are looking for....if you want it totally covered in fiberglass, why would you care about it being wooden?....

quote:I wondered the same. I've seen large (really large) custom ice chests before. Seems like you'd just need to find someone who does custom fiberglass work.

I need it to carry frozen supplies. Four hours is the length of time I would need to keep the items cold. As for as what is under the glass,it doesn't matter to me.

Are you looking to be one of those people who sells frozen steaks out of the back of your truck?

No need for the wood. Roofing insulation is your best bet for a fiberglass box. Jefferson Fiberglass in Harvey does this type of work, but they can be expensive.

Would you have to gel coat that after you finished fiberglassing the box when you're making something like this?

Fiberglass is something I've never messed with but it seems pretty straightforward, my dad did some repairs on our old boat transom with it. Seems to me like the hardest part of this project by far would be making a lid that both matched the box part well and made a good seal.
