Re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer

because I was too young to remember it and follow it when it was actually on. What a great show. I'll have to say that Dawn is possibly one of the most annoying TV characters there is, and that I am mad the Riley flew away to the Jungle.
I am also excited because I am only 2 episodes away from "The Body" which many of you said was the best episode.
If you comment....PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE SPOILERS!
oh and Spike is the man as well.

LOOOOOVED Firefly/Serenity/Dr Horrible, but I couldn't make it through ep 2 of Buffy. Heard S1 was the worst and it picks up in S2, but with so many things I want to watch, don't know if I feel like fighting my way through that for something I'm not guaranteed to like.

Well to be honest, I picked it up near the end of season 3 and went from there. Completely skipped seasons 1 and 2 because I watched a couple of episodes from season 3 on TV.

Unlike most I liked Dawn. The character was supposed to be the annoying kid sister and she certainly did that. Ultimately I think she made Buffy better.

I never really watched Angel, but how good of a show is it or what is it mainly about? I know it kind of ended suddenly but was it still great regardless?

You will like it. S2 and S3 are great TV (as is S5 of Angel but that is allot of investment to get to there) and there are a bunch of great episodes in the other seasons (such as the previously mentioned The Body which I think is still Wheedon's best work). Just fight through S1.

It took a long time to figure itself out. It starts as buffyverse noir (that doesn't really work) and slowly congeals into a pretty good show by the end of season 2 and a pretty great one in season 5. It is very similar to Buffy (obviously as half the cast is from there) but it is quite a bit darker (and buffy was already a dark show). Think Buffy but rather than being a coming of age story it is one about redemntion.

Angel has way too much Cordelia early on. It gets way better when she's "abducted by the PTB"

But she's so hot
I can see perfectly why her personality wouldn't work well on Angel. Hell, none of Scooby Gang could work on Angel if it really is a darker show.

I actually just got through with the entire series for the first time and as a whole, I'd recommend it to anyone. There are some really good episodes in all the seasons. There are some meh ones too, but that just goes with any show. And I agree with the previous posters on The Body and Once more with feeling. Those are two of the best episodes of any tv show out there.

the finale to the Glory season was pretty awesome.
so much to love about this show.
Spike is probably my favorite anti-hero of all time and charisma carpenter is so. fricking. fine. it's ridiculous.

Yes, it is a very good season...
But the next season, Season 6 is my favorite.
Particularly the aforementioned
"Once More, With Feeling" the last few episodes.
