Tennis Needs to Change the Rules .. Like Golf Has

Tennis needs to change the rules like golf has to reign in the technology that has changed the sport -- and not for the better.
Golf has outlawed square groves and put a limit on the trampoline effect on the face of drivers to try to keep at least a semblance of resemblance to the game as it was designed to be played.
Tennis should do the same with the new strings, which have changed tennis into a different, and, IMO, a lesser game. The baseline rallies that dominate men's tennis remind me of why the same tactics in woman's tennis made it almost painful to watch.
Today's strings put much more emphasis on defense that offence. The player that has an advantage in a particular point can't finish off the point by closing the point at the net. Now dipping passing shots and flicking topspin lobs have changed the advantage to the defender.
If the strings and equipment continue to evolve unabated, the men's game will further degenerate to a point where it could become nothing more than a monotonous battle of baseline topspin moon balls.
It's close to that now.

guys have been using polyester strings for years.
Moya and Fererro were using textured Luxilon (big banger) strings back in the 90s, theres been nothing groundbreaking since then.

Clay court tennis is a baseline game. Anyway, Men's tennis is so much better now with guys who can rally, construct points, and play strategically. I guess you yearn for the days when it was all serve and volley, rallies that lasted a max of three shots, and guys who ranked high on the tour without having reliable ground strokes. Guess what? That shite fricking sucked, and that's not tennis.
Guess like Rafa and Fed are tennis, not dudes who rely on huge serves and nothing else.

I would venture to say that the RPM Blast, the octagonal shaped high-spin string from Babolat, that Nadal uses, is far superior to the Big Banger stings of the late 1990's.

I didn't say I wanted to go back to three shots and out tennis.
But what is happening today is at the other swing of the pendulum. And it ain't good tennis either.
If they reigned in the stringing, there would be a better chance of having a sport where players with both attacking/volleying styles and baseline styles would be rewarded and it would also allow for matches between players with contrasting styles, which historically have been the majority of the all-time greatest matches played.
