Maybe, so you can say you've been there. Not my favorite in Memphis.

Haven't been in a long time but felt it was a bit overrated for the hype.

Saw something on TV the other day about a place called Marlowe's.

Anybody?

Commissary is highly rated. It is on the east side of the city in Germantown. I have been very pleased with everything from there, except the ribs...

Sometimes, there's something to be said for that.

Yup. Like going to the Varsity in Atlanta. Not great food (understatement!), but it's fun and if you haven't been there, you haven't been to Atlanta.

Think I'm going to try the BBQ Shop or Marlowe's. I'll report back.

I ate there last night....honestly, the ribs are a bit tough and a little dry as they have so much business, they have to cook them well before the rush....

I do keep going back though, because the food is decent, and I like the atmosphere and the proximity to beale street....

I wouldn't want to go to memphis without trying it out....I did and have been back several times since....

FWIW, if you do decide to go, remember that you have to come in from the alley side (park in a parking garage that you access from the other side of the block and walk into the alley where the entrance is....

Rendezvous is hit or miss because it's so mass produced. It can be good when it's on but you never know. I highly recommend the BBQ shop or central BBQ for the best in town.

On your recommendation I ate at Central BBQ (the one on Central) last year when I was in Memphis. I haven't been to the others, but Central was very, very good.

I remember that Germantown Commisary was very good. Been awhile since I've been there, though.

I don't know how it used to be, but I ate there for dinner last night and it was very good
