He cites lack of road victories because of our stacked home schedule at the beginning of the season.

Should we go play St. John's in Queen's in February?

Or at Minnesota in March?

But they get credit for going on the road, right?

why are you guys having a problem grasping and accepting this .. our OOC schedule was horrible this year outside of the one fullerton series ... the in-state model is also antiquated .. outside of tulane, the in-state schools are no longer as competitive as they were 10 to 15 years ago ... LSU can get away with that non-challenging shite in years where we go 20-10 in the SEC .. not 13-17 ..

in addition to upgrading assistant coaches and breaking up the sunday off season barbecue .. maineri needs to get on the phone and work on the OOC schedule and get out of the 90s ..

He didn't reference the quality of the teams, just that they were primarily home games.

So we're at fault because the Northern teams need somewhere to play.

I'm looking at St. John's road OOC schedule. Outside of a series with GT, they played one game against UNC. Everything else is garbage, just on the road. Midweek games are just like ours...beating up on Albany, Wagner, and LIU.

well, there are just a few schools south of the mason-dixon line to play .. why haven't we gone to a quality big 12 school for a series ?

We won a championship in 2009 with the exact same scheduling philosophy.

considering we are LSU, i am just guessing a little more is expected out of our baseball program schedule-wise than st. john's .. holy cross, saint mary's, princeton and UNO just don't cut it in the committee's eyes .. instead of arguing about this shite, we as fans ought to be demanding maineri upgrade the OOC schedule .. hell, even a quality second OOC opponent at the box would have gotten us over the hump this year ..

Yep, i posted that earlier. I disagree with Rag. Nothing is wrong with our schedule .... what is wrong was being crap in the SEC.

Not according to Weiser. He said: "There are no notable OOC wins away from home. So we had to go back to the Conference Schedule."

From his comments it doesn't even sound like it has to be team from another big conference, it was just the "lack" of road games. I can see where they're coming from but I'm wondering if this has been an issue with bubble teams in the past. Is playing OOC road games now going to be some kind of requirement? Does playing a road weekend series carry more weight than playing 3 games at Vanderbilt?

had we not done as well as we did in the SEC and the SEC tournament .. that schedule likely would have bitten us in the arse then too .. comparing the 2009 schedule to this one just doesn't cut it .. if that team went 13-17 in the SEC, it wouldn't have sniffed the tourney then either ... maineri lined up a lot of those games in 2007 when he was trying to get the program back on its feet .. bertman used to play a far more competitive OOC schedule .. well, after 2009, the program was back on its feet and still playing this cupcake OOC schedule and it bit us in the arse this time ..

I think most fans are gonna have to deal with it. We are gonna play plenty of OOC home games for the next few years

But the point is they got in the tournament and won the whole damn thing with the same scheduling philosophy. So it's not about the schedule this year, it's about crap SEC play.

NCAA just looking for excuses. Real reason was committee bias when you want to get down to it.

well, there is no sense in going on the road to play someone that is not from a major conference .. so you are looking at going to play iowa state, kansas, missouri, someone like that .. why didn't we just go home and home with kansas ?

Because our entire season schedule more than doubles what St. John's played. The NCAA committee guy gives a bulls*** answer about LSU not playing road games and that they beat the 11th and 12th team in the SEC. So the frick what???

Should we get out the magnifying glass for St. John's victories? What about Dallas Baptist beating up on 3 SWAC schools, Seattle, Houston Baptist, Binghamton, and schools like that for over half of their season victories? Baylor was 29-27 (or something like that), how many of those wins came against the bottom of the Big 12? Jacksonville, give me a break, I bet they have tons of wins on the road against top 25 teams, right???

Miss St. OOC schedule

So basically, they had the same shitty OOC, worse RPI, worse overall record, losing in conference record, and they needed a heroic 9th inning to not be swept by us...again, scheduling isn't the problem IMO

well, duh .. sure it is .. we won the last three SEC tournament titles, so we were automatic entrants to the NCAAs .. this is the first time we have had to go the at-large route since 2004 .. you can't bank on winning the SEC every year so you need to play a more diverse OOC schedule ... why are people fighting this ?? don't you want to see better teams than holy cross come in here ?
