Great lunch spot: Carmo on Julia

Finally went here Saturday after walking by numerous times. It's a small Brazilian/Carribean/Latin American place. Sandwiches, soup, salads with emphasis on healthy and local. Vegan friendly. Limited hours (11:30 to 3, M-Sat.).
We ordered a special, the Esmeralda salad, which was a quinoa salad with black beans, goat cheese, a coconut chili vinaigrette, and other goodies I just can't remember. We added the smoked chicken. Clean, spicy, and savory. Would be nice if they offered regularly.
We also ordered the Rico which is on their regular menu. Nixed the "Rico sauce" when they described it as similar to a remoulade. The dish was so tasty it didn't need anything anyway. Pulled pork over a grilled plaintain patty with melted cheese and salsa fresca.
Ended with Carribean banana bread which was really coconutty and moist.
Great lunch spot even if it takes a little while to get your food (appears to be the owners working and they make your food when you order right there). Will be a regular Saturday lunch spot for me.

I have tried the menu and some of the specialties. All have been great. Especially the Brazilian African specialties from the amazon.
Speaking as someone who spent a month in brazil, the place is legit.
